Anger Destroys Destiny

Numbers 20:10-12(ESV)

Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock. And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”

Anger is so dangerous and a destiny-killer because it can destroy a lifetime of achievement within seconds. Moses spoke to God face to face(Exodus 33:11), the only man who has done it. He led the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, and through him, the army of Egypt was wiped out in the Red Sea(Exodus 14:27-28). God used him to perform many great miracles and he was on the way to leading the children of Israel to the promised land, but anger ended his mission within seconds. God had given Moses a specific instruction of speaking to the rock. Because He was setting up a major prophetic picture for generations to come. Instead of doing as instructed, he lost his temper and chose to strike the rock twice, saying, “must we bring water for you?” God was merciful and brought water from the rock in abundance. But He was not pleased with the action of Moses by not trusting in Him. To discipline him, God did not allow Moses to enter the Promised Land with the people.

Anger is a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility and can be very destructive. Anger is a weapon of destruction in the hands of the enemy. It opens the door for the devil to fill our hearts with bitterness and all manner of destructive characters. It is so disastrous to the extent that it can rob one of entering the Kingdom of God(Galatians 5:20-21). As children of God, let not the devil rob us of our destinies through uncontrolled anger. Many people have regretted their current status in life because they yielded their lives to the influence of anger. Many have missed their promised lands because they could not control their anger. Many have destroyed life and property, many people have lost good friends, marriages, jobs, children all because of anger. Some have cursed their children, lost their freedom all because of anger. It is written in Psalm 37:8 “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.”

Beloved, never let anger dominate your life, for it will also dictate how far you go in life. Always control your emotions because anger has made many say or do things they would not usually say or do. Never let anger take you in a direction that leads to sin and regrets. Do not let anyone recruit you into getting angry with anyone. Refused to let the sun go down while you are still aggrieved. Learn to exercise patience before you speak or act. Be respectful of the other person and do not intentionally make others angry for your benefit. Instead of focusing on what made you annoyed, work on resolving the issue at hand. Forgive everyone who has made you angry. You shall not destroy the good things you have built because of anger in Jesus’ Name. Remember, anger solves nothing at all, does not improve anything but, it only destroys everything. It lies in the bosom of fools.

O Lord, help me to be able to exercise restraint in the face of provocation. Do not let me miss Your Kingdom and Blessings because of anger in Jesus’ Name.
