Delighting In His Way

Psalm 37:23-24 (KJV)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

In the journey of life, we all encounter moments of weakness, setbacks, or failures that might shake our confidence. Every decision, every little movement along the journey, is part of a divine design curated out of love and purposeful care. The beautiful assurance embedded in these words is that even if we slip, we are never abandoned. God’s sustaining hand is ever-present, catching us and ensuring that our falls do not define us or lead to an irreversible collapse. Rather, our stumbles become lessons in humility and resilience. Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.” Failure is not fatal. Falling seven times highlights the reality that setbacks may occur, but they do not define us. Ultimately, there is no such thing as a final fall. We must hold on to hope, knowing that as children of God, failure is not an option. The devil’s schemes cannot prevail against us. As steadfast believers, our paths are meticulously directed by the Lord. He promises to guide our steps, protect us from harm, and ensure we rise above every challenge.

It’s a reality that everyone faces challenges, but what truly matters is how we respond to them. We rise up, move forward, and embrace our journey with unwavering faith in Jesus and the Father’s incredible plan for us. Trials are not just obstacles; they are essential for our growth and refinement. We don’t merely accept them; we express gratitude to God for every opportunity that shapes us more into His likeness. Micah 7:8 says, “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” The fact that we may stumble doesn’t signify that the enemy has triumphed in our lives. There is always the opportunity for us to rise again and move forward. Just think about a child learning to walk: they stand, take a few steps, and fall. However, no matter how many times they tumble, they persist in trying. With determination, that child not only learns to walk but eventually runs, leaps, and jumps—no longer falling like before. Similarly, as believers, we may encounter setbacks on our journey with God. However, there is no such thing as a total failure for the children of God, for it is the Lord who guides our steps. He finds joy in every stride we take. So, there’s no reason to fret or worry. Even in the face of adversity, we serve a God who offers us countless chances to rise again. To Him, a fall is not the end; rather, it’s those who refuse to repent and get back up who may find themselves stuck for too long. As we stay attuned to His voice and remain open to His guidance, we will never feel abandoned or forgotten, even when we stumble or act out of turn. Embrace the journey and keep moving forward with confidence!
