Look To God For Help

Psalms 108:12-13(NKJV)

Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God, we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

King David began this Psalm with a promise to look to God, to seek Him, early in the morning for His help. The truth is only God can bring help and lasting victory in the daily battle for our souls. As children of God, our help comes from God who neither sleeps nor slumbers; He is our refuge and strength, a highly present help in trouble. The Help of God is superior, durable, dependable, and more reliable than either the help of man or the hurt of the devil. Without God’s Help, man is hopeless and helpless, for God is our present help in trouble. Men may promise to help today but change their minds tomorrow, but when the help is from God, we can go to sleep because that help is guaranteed. Earthly help is short-lived, but God’s Help is peaceful and long-lasting. Isaiah 31:1 says, “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in their abundance of chariots and in their multitude of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel; they do not seek the LORD.” David said of God in Psalm 28:7, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.” When God is our Helper, our hearts always rejoice because we know defeat is not our portion.

In life, to make it through troubles, we need the help of God because, with the Lord, we will do valiantly. The Help of God will make the believer stand well-defended even when surrounded by their enemies. Joseph, by God’s Help, prevailed against all wickedness. Through it all, Joseph trusted in God. He sought to know Him and do His Will. Caleb said in Joshua 14:12, “….the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as He said.” With the Lord helping us, we can conquer! Think of David fighting many battles and never losing any. When the people wanted to see what would become of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire, God brought them back in glory to the shame of their accusers. The help of God was evident. Trust in God because His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace to give us an expected end. Many believers never see God’s glory and power because they quit and run to the next church, place, or job as soon as trouble arises. However, God is faithful! 2 Chronicles 14:11-12 says, “And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name, we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!” So, the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.” The Lord gave Asa the help he needed to defeat his enemies. In the same way, God shall preserve us from all evil as we trust Him. In this season and beyond, with the help of God, we will do mighty things for God shall destroy every opposition for good in the Name of Jesus.

Beloved, I have come to reassure you this day that your help comes from God the Maker of Heaven and Earth. God is always eager to help you. He loves you so much and doesn’t want you to go through your trials alone. Fear not, for God is with you. You might be going through some troubles, and you are looking to family or friends for help, don’t look to any, for the help of man is useless and just an arm of flesh. The Bible says curse be to any man that puts his trust in man. Depend only on God for help, and He will not forsake or leave you but take good care of you. God is available today to help and deliver you from all your troubles. He shall raise a voice for you to defend you and silence all opposing voices for your sake. You shall surely be victorious, for the LORD of hosts will take over your battle. Let God be your Helper by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of your life and surrender all to Him. When God becomes your Helper, can you boldly say you will never be afraid of the devil and his devices. Today, trust in the Name of our Lord, and you will rise and stand firm. The Lord will help you and your family in times of trouble in Jesus’ Name. Remember, the Lord will help when you don’t know what next to do and where next to turn.

O LORD, give me the grace to look to You daily for help in Jesus’ Name.
