Esther 7:10(ESV)
So, they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king abated.
Haman had plotted to have all the Jews in the Medo-Persian Empire killed because Mordecai had failed to bow to him. On learning that it was Haman, the king walked out to the palace garden. Here is a king who is ignorant of what is going on in his kingdom. He is troubled, perplexed, concerned, deluded, and unknowing. While pleading frantically for his life, he fell on that same bed where Esther was seated. By the time the king turned his face, he was further aggrieved, as it appeared that Haman tried to harass the Queen even in his presence. In a miraculous answer to prayer, God overturned his plot, and the king instructed Haman to be hanged on the same gallows Haman had set up for Mordecai. Psalm 94:23 says, “He will bring upon them their own iniquity and destroy them for their wickedness. The LORD our God will destroy them.” Haman’s attempt to kill Mordecai led to Mordecai’s exaltation and Haman’s destruction.
A trap implies a device or an enclosure designed to catch prey. It is also a trick or arrangement designed to capture someone. We live in times where there is all manner of satanic or devilish traps, but God is committed to rescuing His children. That is, the devil and his agents are in the business of setting traps for people to destroy them. However, the more satan and his agents set these traps God will always make a way of escape for His children. The consequence of setting an evil trap for another is death. Unfortunately, satan makes this so appealing and seductive that the sense of danger is not realized, to its damning and dangerous consequences. Many people are in a pit of depression, despair, or other misery because of sowing evil intentions towards others. Many have gone to the grave prematurely due to the damning allure of setting evil traps. Proverbs 26:27 says, “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.” Those who try to trap or destroy others will find their own devices trap and destroy them. The lesson of this Scripture is to trust God to protect us and punish our enemies. The Bible makes us understand that we reap the kind of seed that we sow in the ground. If we try to trap others or plan mischief, we will surely reap the evil thing we intended to do to them. It is devious waste of energies plotting schemes that ultimately only harm those who plotted them.
