Thank God For His Righteousness

Psalm 7:17(NIV)

I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.

In this Psalm, David cries out to the Lord after being falsely accused of specific wrongdoing by Cush. David was confident in the Lord because he knew God, the righteous judge, would judge and vindicate him and deliver him from all their evil schemes. And this realization causes David to thank and praise the Lord for who God is. As children of God, there are countless reasons to thank God and sing praises, including for who He is! That’s reason enough for us to stop whatever we are doing and praise and thank Him. We can also thank and sing praises to the Lord for His righteousness today as we meditate on the fact that God Will Vindicate the Innocent. We are who we are in Christ because of the goodness and mercy of God. For God’s righteousness, greatness, goodness, kindness, and wondrous works to us, we must always thank and sing praises to Him.

Thanking and singing praises to God for His righteousness is a sign of good conduct and attitude. Such an attitude always attracts additional benefits. It is the door that ushers us into God’s blessings. Therefore, it is expedient that Christians develop this attitude as a way of life. Thanksgiving and praise are weapons to get God on our side, and they are the surest ways into His Presence. Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” That is, to thank and praise God is to attract Him, and to attract Him is to attract all He carries. In other words, those who come before God with thanksgiving and praise can never live by the mercy of men because of His Presence. As we remain thankful, God will always launch us into the realm of the unimaginable and always win the battles of life. Let us not forget what His Word says in 1 Chronicles 16:34, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Beloved, the most profound gratitude you can show God for all the things He has done for you is to live a righteous life and live according to His Will. Be able to lift your clean hands and have a pure conscience devoid of offense to your Maker at all times. Make up your mind to thank and praise the Almightiness of God with understanding. In all you do, never forget to praise God, for you declare your dependency on Him and acknowledge that you are not in control of your life. Turn your eyes to the Lord, thanking and praising Him even when you are accused wrongly or falsely. As you praise and thank Him, trust that He will deliver and vindicate you. Believe that God will take you further than you ever thought possible, faster than achievable. Trust that your times are in His hands. Know that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Whatever you are walking through, my dear friend, He sees you. Big or small, He cares about it because He loves you and desires for you to walk through life victoriously. So, thank and sing praises to Him, for there is always something for you to be thankful to God. Choose to see the good things in your life and be grateful and praiseful for them. Today, thank and praise Him for who He is— Righteous, Good, Merciful, and Loving. Declare the righteousness of the Lord, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

O LORD, thank You for just being You! Thank You for Your Righteousness. Help me to always be thankful and praiseful for the glory of Your Holy Name in Jesus’ Name.
