Psalm 40:3(NIV)
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.
King David, the greatest king of Israel, composed several new songs for the Lord throughout his lifetime. In this Psalm, David recalled a desperate, helpless situation he had fallen into and how he waited on the Lord as He put a new song in his mouth. The beautiful outcome was so great for David that David sings praises to God and shares it all around so that others are in awe of God and begin to develop a relationship with Him. No wonder he never lost any battle, and God’s Presence was mighty in his life because he was always singing a new song to the Lord. God gives new songs to His children, and He expects us to sing these songs when there is an occasion of triumph. Each time we experience His intervention or mighty works, for instance, salvation, deliverance, preservation, healing, divine provision, and or breakthrough, we are to sing with joy to Him. It is written in Psalm 98:1, “Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. A new song is a product of God’s visitation. It is the product of divine joy birth by God’s wondrous works among mortals. In other words, people who appreciate the priceless acts of God sing new songs of praise to Him.
One of the most effective tools that shift our emotions during the dark season is to praise the Name of God with a song. It has the power to almost instantly transport us from the pit of complaint and despair to a realm of the highest praise. It prompts God into instant action, changing the spiritual climate around us and manifesting His Presence. Praising God brings His Power down into our situations and gives us the needed victory. The Apostle Paul always chose to thank and praise God in very demanding circumstances. God had given Paul a vision and told him to go to Philippi. But shortly after arriving, he was arrested, beaten, and thrown into prison. However, he and Silas sang praises to God even amid a painful situation(Acts 16:1-40). In Exodus 15:21, Miriam, Moses’ sister, sang back to the joyous congregation, saying, “Sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.” After witnessing God’s extraordinary intervention on their behalf, songs of triumph filled their mouths, and they began to sing, even without any rehearsals. When God chose Mary, blessed and highly favored her among all women, her response in appreciation of Heaven’s kind gesture was a new song. Mary’s song, also called the Magnificat, is found in Luke 1:46-55.
Beloved, choose the correct ally, the Mighty One in battle, in the confrontation of life, and sing many songs of praise to Him. Learn to praise and give thanks to God at all times and in all things. Always sing to the Lord a new song of praise. Don’t spend life waiting for the next big thing. Instead, thank God for what He did in the past and what He is currently doing in your life. He has never ceased to be faithful and kind. If it had not been for the Lord on your side, the devil would have destroyed you. You are who you are in Christ because of the goodness of God. Before complaining about your situation, take a critical look at other people’s situations, and you will realize that you have enjoyed the goodness of the Lord. No matter how challenging your situation or circumstance might be, always remember God’s faithfulness and thank Him for past blessings. Ensure that God, who is Mighty and Merciful, is your ally, and you will always have songs of triumph to sing. As you sing a new song, Heaven shall open the Book of Remembrance concerning you, favor you and destroy the enemy troubling your destiny in Jesus’ Name. Today, keep your heart pure so that your joy can be running over in the Lord. You shall have reasons to jubilate, rejoicing, and the sound of melody will never cease in your life and family in the Name of Jesus. Remember, those who come before God with songs of thanksgiving and praise can never live by the mercy of men.
O Lord, thank You for Your wondrous works in my life, baptize me with favor and new songs in Jesus’ Name.
