Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Had he truly revered God, he would not have compromised the guidance given to him for the sake of personal ambition. Ultimately, the fear of the Lord empowers us to uphold divine instructions without yielding to the temptation of personal gain.
