As To The Lord

Ephesians 6:7-8 KJV

With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Service is a vital characteristic of our walk with God. It makes our walk with God meaningful and fruitful, securing our glorious future in Christ. From the above Scripture, we are admonished as servants to be faithful in our services to the Lord and not to men, knowing that anything we do the same shall we receive of the Lord. In other words, never do anything half-heartedly but give it our best shot as if our lives depend on it. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” We benefit if we conduct ourselves as to the Lord and not to man. The trademark of true Christians is the ability to set an excellent example as the world looks up to us as their Bible. When we are in a relationship with Jesus, any work we have to do allows us to reflect His Presence in our lives. Tackling our responsibilities, whatever they may be, with joy, creativity, determination, and excellence allows us to influence those around us, no matter our job. By doing every work for the Lord, we acceptably present the Gospel. It is the highest form of worship to God.

As believers, our service to God must be excellent because He deserves excellent service from His people. He is an excellent God and does everything excellently so that no one can add or subtract from it. Therefore, as children made in God’s image and likeness, we have no excuse not always to give our best, irrespective of where we are or the circumstances around us. This means using the best of our divine endowments, skills, talents, and resources to promote God’s Kingdom. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” In whatever area of service we find ourselves, recognize that our service should be rendered to the Lord. With this mindset, our focus will be set on Heaven’s testimonial about us, not what people think. If we serve the Lord as though we are serving man, whatever reward we get will not go beyond this world. Therefore, whatever assignment God gives us in His Kingdom, do it with joy, passion, and faith, as unto the Lord. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Beloved, you cannot afford not to be at your best at every given opportunity, irrespective of what you are doing or what is happening around you, for your service is not to man but to God. Make a decision today to render quality service to God. Pay any price, making any sacrifice until you make excellence happen in your service to God! God will, in turn, distinguish you in life. Never be satisfied to do what you have to do in order to get by. As you do it to the Lord, you will see an increase in every area of your life! Be on fire for the Lord all the time. You must always strive for excellence in your service delivery in the Kingdom of God. Be instant in and out of season, for God sees everything you do for Him and others, and He’s faithful to reward you. Do not be weary of doing well, for your reward is coming. Don’t lose hope. It will come at the right time if you keep working for God. Seek the testimonial of Heaven today, and your struggles to make it in life will become a thing of the past. Remember, make it a duty to be the best, working for God always and not man, for nothing you do for the Lord is forgotten by Him, and He will surely reward you.

O Lord, I choose to serve You with my whole heart. Help me to do everything to the best of my ability in Jesus’ Name.
