Luke 5:5(NKJV)
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
Simon Peter was a fisherman and an expert who knew the right time to fish, the right tools to use and always fish with his right partners. Everything was perfect, yet Peter and his group toiled all night and caught nothing. All he depended on failed, until he connected to Jesus, the Rock of Ages, the Ancient of Days, our Rest in our weary land and the Way Maker. From the above Scripture, it would have been easy for Peter to reject the instruction of Jesus. After all, Peter had been a fisherman all his life. He could have said to Jesus what do you know about fishing? Yet, Peter obeyed and tried just once more. Peter’s obedience is remarkable because as a seasoned fisherman, he knew when to fish and when not to fish, he knew that fish move to the bottom of the lake when the sun is up, and the dragnets they used could not go deep enough to catch those fish. However, when he connected to the Word, he caught the type of fish he has never caught in his life. His willingness to trust Jesus was rewarded. The result of his simple obedience was a net-breaking and boat-sinking gain of fish, which had the capacity to transform his life forever.
The key to success or failure lies in doing things at the Word of God. The Word can create, heal, deliver, restore and bless. God’s Word has the ability to give life, and has the power to make a way where there is no way. Everything is by the Word of God. Peter said, “at thy word I will let down the net.” God’s Words always get results and has the ability to stop suffering and toiling. It has creative ability, the moment the Word of Jesus went forth, fishes began to come out from the same water that Peter could not catch fish all through the night. Many are like Simon Peter and his partners. They have done all that they know to do and yet they’ve come up empty-handed. Many are still toiling in the high sea and wandering in the market square of life with hard labor and nothing for their efforts. Trust the Word of God and He will step into your situation and things will turn around for your good. He cannot step into your life and it remains the same. He cannot step into your business/career and it remains the same.
Beloved, refuse to give up when you have toiled all night and caught nothing, rather wait for the Word of the Master. Until you are in touch with the Word, you cannot be in touch with signs and wonders. Therefore, go for the Word of God. Today, be determine to give yourself devotedly to the Word and always trust God to handle things His way in your life. Your frustration in life ends now! Toiling ends today! Begging ends today! Hardships ends today! Every affliction in your life ends today! The Word of God is turning your toiling into abundance in Jesus’ Name! Remember, your obedience to God will guide you through the unknown and draw you closer to Him.
O Lord, let Your Will prevail in my life, and let Your Word concerning me come to pass in Jesus’ Name.
