1 Corinthians 7:2(KJV)
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife and let every woman have her own husband.
Sex is good and is meant to grow and come to its full beauty in the grace and truth of God for any marriage. However, satan, who never produced anything good, wants to ruin what God created to be good. He does his best to feed sexual desire to the swine of fornication, adultery, pornography, incest, child abuse, and homosexuality. The dictionary meaning of the word fornication is any unlawful sexual intercourse. The Greek definition of the word fornication means to commit illicit sexual intercourse. Fornication is always a mutual sin engaged in by two or more. Fornication is a sinful practice where sexual activity occurs outside of marriage. It is sometimes called premarital sex. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says,“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” The Bible identifies it as a sin against oneself. The Holy Spirit hates fornication because our body is the temple of God and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Fornication separates God from His Temple and keeps God outside His Throne in our hearts. We incur the wrath of God when we destroy His temple.
From our anchored Scripture, we can clearly say that God established the institution of marriage to prevent fornication. The text stresses the need for intimacy between husband and wife in order to avoid sexual immorality. It is essential that husbands and wives engage in sexual relations in a way that significantly reduces the temptation to commit adultery. That is to say, the mystery of one flesh, as seen in the Scriptures, is to check sexual impurities. God expects married couples to give sexual satisfaction to each other. That is why sex, in the context of marriage, is not dirty or sinful as some would have us believe. It is a God-created thing that should enrich a marriage. Both the wife and the husband should strive towards fulfilling the godly sexual desires of their spouse. It is necessary because it is one way to protect couples from the hawks outside their home. Sexual union between a husband and wife is not just a physical act; the oneness of the spirit and soul and the mutual submission ordained by God.
Beloved, fornication strips the glory of God away from you and clothes you in rags and shame. There is nothing glorious about sexual sin. It never adds anything to you but always takes away your prized possessions. Your life as a Christian is a living witness to others, and you cannot break the laws of God without hindering others from coming to Christ. You must live your life in purity before a sinful and wicked world, not according to their standards but according to God’s standard in the Bible. Repent and flee fornication daily! Whatever separates God from you is something to resist by all means! God hates sin, but He loves the sinner. Denying your husband or wife intimacy just because he or she has not fulfilled a request, has a disagreement, or is not happy is a conflict with God’s expectations and an abuse of the purpose of sexual intimacy. According to God, denying sexual intimacy is fraud. Only the wicked man or woman will give conditions for intimacy. When you starve your spouse of intimacy, you expose them to external dangers and temptations. As married couples, have it as frequent as possible, for frequency is one element that makes up the satisfaction of sexual relations. Devote yourself to the knowledge of God, and you will conquer satan once and for all.
O Lord, help me flee fornication. I receive the grace to honor You daily with my body in Jesus’ Name.
