Be A Reflection Of Jesus

Philippians 2:5(KJV)

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

From our anchored Scripture, Apostle Paul encourages us to have an attitude that mirrors the principles and life of our Lord Jesus Christ. To accurately represent our Lord, he urged the followers of the true Gospel to reflect the humility, self-sacrifice, and compassion of Jesus for others. The call of Scripture to have the attitude of Christ speaks to us just as pointedly as it once spoke to the Philippians. We, too, live in a time when people get so caught up in themselves that they neglect the concerns of others. There’s an old saying that “attitude determines altitude.” In other words, a positive, faith-filled attitude will cause us to rise higher in life, but a negative, self-critical attitude will only drag us down. When we reflect on something, we exhibit its likeness; in other words, we display its characteristics. Like a mirror, let us reflect the character and likeness of Jesus.

In our Christian walk, instead of being puffed up with our own ideas and self-importance, we are to have the attitude of Christ; an attitude of humility, self-sacrifice, and servanthood. This lesson should challenge the Body of Christ in these end times. It took great humility for our Lord Jesus Christ to take the form of a man and die the shameful death of the cross. The secret of our Lord’s humility lies in the state of His Mind. 1 Corinthians 11:1 says, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” Apostle Paul was so sure of himself and his position in Christ that he was bold enough to challenge those within his sphere of influence to imitate him as he imitated the Lord Jesus Christ. Accepting the Gospel lays the foundation of humility because we cannot assume that we are sinners without humble hearts. Humility breeds exaltation. To attain the height God has planned for us, we must be humble enough to fit into it. Many Christians believe they are humble, but only adversity reveals a man’s true character. The destructive impact of pride is felt not only in individual lives but also in families, churches, governments, and entire nations. It creates division, perpetuates conflict, and causes harm to relationships of all kinds. Let us be mindful of the negative consequences of pride and strive for humility and unity in all aspects of our lives. In life’s journey, have the attitude that opens only the door to God’s miracle-working power.

Beloved, your attitude should mirror the life of our Master, who left His Glory in Heaven and take up the image of a servant on earth. He humbled Himself so much that He even laid down His life for all humanity. As a child of God, you must be like Jesus, having His humble attitude guiding your actions as you meet and relate with people in your sphere of influence. Choose humility, for humility isn’t only for those in lowly positions. It’s God’s call to all. Be like Christ and stay relevant at all times because the mind of Christ is the mind of humility. Be a reflection of Him, and do good everywhere you go! Serve others for the sake and pleasure of your Heavenly Father and Master. Today, choose the humility attitude of Christ, partly because it’s the right, God-honoring thing to do and partly because of the rewards that lay ahead for you. Be able to serve the people around you even if your efforts are ignored or scorned. Remember, humility will elevate you to great heights and give you honor, while pride will bring you down to the level of salt that has lost its savor and make you useless.

O LORD, give me the same mind You gave to Your Son Jesus and help me in this evil and perverse generation in Jesus’ Name.
