Be On Fire For God

Romans 12:11(KJV)

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

As Christians, dedication to God should be our most important priority. To be dedicated is a life that is committed fully and wholeheartedly to the things of God. It is living to give God pleasure with our lives. We are to serve the Lord all the days of our lives by being zealous for Him and focusing on Him alone. As believers, we are created and redeemed by God to serve Him; our dedication to God is critical to standing out in life and destiny. When we are dedicated to God, He distinguishes us and makes us stand out in our generation. Dedicated people live, move, and have their being in God. Therefore, understanding what it takes to be dedicated is understanding what it takes to stand out in life. Serving God is the highest privilege in the universe for human beings. Mark 12:30 says, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Dedicated servants of God love Him with their all and will go to any extent to achieve the purpose of God on earth. A dedicated service to God provokes a covenant walk with God, a walk of extra commitment.

The truth is, before we can walk successfully with God, we must be fully dedicated to Him in all areas of our life. Numbers 25:7 says, “And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;” Phinehas took a javelin in his hands to execute Judgment against an Israelite who sinned against God, he was burning with the fire of dedication for God. Phinehas did this to please God and turn away God’s anger from the Israelites. He was full of passion for God, and God looked on his passion and intensity to establish His Peace with him. Scriptures make it clear that David was dedicated to God (Psalms 63:1-2) and operated in the realm of devoted passion for God. His thirst for God made him seek Him early, even in a dry and thirsty land. He prayed effortlessly(three times per day), studied, and meditated on God’s Word consistently. Simon Peter was an unlearned and ignorant fisherman who decided to be dedicated to God, and God honored him by distinguishing him from other people; he stood out from the rest. To be serious with God is to refuse to be an ordinary churchgoer or a bench warmer but rather a dedicated and committed person to the cause of God and His Church. To be serious with God is to refuse to belong to the crowd of ordinary Christians.

Beloved, your dedication to God is to command the attention of both Divinity and humanity. Decide not to follow the crowd, but the principles of God’s Word for your life; your love for His Word is proof of your dedication to Him. Be highly busy for God in advancing His Cause and enlarging His Kingdom on earth as you refuse to live a lifestyle of ordinariness. If God is first in your life, everything else has a meaning. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might (Ecclesiastes 9:10), and don’t be slothful in God’s business, but rather be fervent in your physical and spiritual service to God for those who are passionate about working for God can’t be tied down by affliction. You might not have been called to pastor a Church, but in whatever capacity you are called to function, there is a greater calling to be devout and totally sold out to God. In the fervency of your spirit lies your present, future, and eternity. Don’t waste your life serving yourself for money or personal satisfaction. Never allow anyone to quench your fire for fire is easily losable when left idle. Solely seek the Lord and keep yourself stirred up by reading the Word, praying in the Holy Spirit, and listening and fellowshipping with God all the time; then, your service and worship becomes a lifestyle. Remember, serve God well, and let His Spirit direct and guide you in all things.

O LORD, I ask for an unconquerable passion for You and Your purpose for my life. Help me seek You at all times in Jesus’ Name.
