Be Persistent In Prayer

Luke 18:1(TLB)

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must keep praying until the answer comes.

Prayer is having a constant and consistent communication with God. It is the means God has provided for Christians to have all of their needs satisfied. Prayer is the sure answer and the ultimate solution to all problems and challenges of life. From our anchored Scripture Jesus made a very profound statement that men ought to always pray and not lose heart. That is, if we are to get results or answers in prayer, we must pray consistently and continually. In other words, it is not enough to just pray but P+U+S+H = Pray-Until-Something-Happens. For this reason, God did not place any limitation on prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray without ceasing.” It is important to note that prayer plays a vital role in our quest to access more of God’s Glory. It is a ladder we can climb to enter into God’s Presence. The more we pray, the more of His Presence we will encounter, leading us into more of His Glory.

Persistent in prayer is the key to answered prayer. It symbolizes trust and total dependence on God. It is written in Mark 10:48 “Shut up!” some of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted the louder, again and again, “O Son of David, have mercy on me!” It was the spirit of persistence that kept Bartimaeus shout to Jesus for mercy and help, even when others were telling him to keep quiet. The same spirit got Jesus’ attention, the restoration of his sight and the change of his story. That is why the devil is doing everything possible so you do not persist in prayer. The devil knows that if he can attack a Christian’s prayer life, then he can get that fellow. It is this reason he brings all sort of distractions to take our minds off prayers. Our work, family responsibilities, social media, television and even church activities are all things that he ensures take our time such that we do not have time left for prayers. Many of our struggles today would not even have existed if only we prayed. For a prayer of faith can move mountains and change seasons. As children of God, we have no excuse for operating a prayer-less life. James 4:2 says “…..yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” God want us to continue to walk closely with Him, being faithful in prayer.

Beloved, determine to pray persistently and tirelessly for endless laughter cannot just come without persistence. So, when you complain of tiredness in praying, fasting or coming to church, it is to your own disadvantage because the devil is not tired of launching his attacks. Always pray to God to open your eyes to behold wondrous things out of His law. God is waiting to hear your prayer, with angels standing to take orders! Don’t give up in prayer for your breakthrough is around the corner. Today, invoke the power of God and He will answer you by fire. Pray until the God of Elijah manifests Himself powerfully in your situations. Pray with the assurance that your prayer for fruitfulness, child, career, spouse, healing, deliverance or for a change of level is about to be answered. Pray without minimizing what you expect from God. As long as you are sure you are working in God’s Will, persist. You will succeed because the determined and focused child always get what they want.

O LORD, help me to be persistent in prayer, I will not give up at the edge of my miracles in Jesus’ Name.
