Be Still And See His Salvation

Exodus 14:13-14 (KJV)

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Throughout the Scriptures, God’s unwavering commitment to fight for His children shines brightly. The power of God was dramatically revealed to the Israelites during their time in Egypt. After their escape, they found themselves trapped at the Red Sea, pursued by Pharaoh and his formidable army. Fear gripped them, and they cried out in despair. However, instead of clinging to God’s promises of safety and the land He had assured them, they allowed their focus to shift to the insurmountable sea before them. In this moment, Moses didn’t present a battle plan or offer a human strategy; instead, he redirected their gaze to God’s Presence and might. He encouraged them not to be afraid, but to stand firm and watch as the LORD prepared to rescue them, reminding them that the LORD would fight while they remained silent. All they needed to do was witness God at work. When God commanded them to move forward, and they obeyed His Word, the Bible tells us that the Red Sea saw it, fled, and was pushed back for their deliverance.

Stillness before God is a profound theme in the Scriptures. The call to stand firm and be still signifies an active trust, a refusal to succumb to panic, and an anchoring of hope in God’s ability to act, making space for divine deliverance to unfold. Isaiah 30:15 says, “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.”  To be still is to embody calmness and peace, remaining composed and unshaken amid challenging circumstances. It means to stay stable and silent. As long as the children of God are still in any challenge of life, victory is guaranteed. Our God is a Mighty Man in battle, devoted to preserving the lives of His people. He cares deeply about our struggles and fights battles on our behalf, showing zero tolerance for the enemy’s harassment against those He ransomed with the precious Blood of His Son, Jesus. With this understanding, we recognize that God is the ultimate helper in life’s battles. He is strongest when the confrontation is most intense, and no power can challenge His Authority. When trials come or disaster strikes, it’s easy to feel as if God is negligent, but the One who fights for us has promised never to leave or forsake us. For believers to enjoy a victorious life, we must put on our full armor and trust the Deliverer. Our confidence rests in God, who will fight our battles and safely bring us home. Sometimes, God calls us to undertake what seems impossible, like crossing the Red Sea on dry ground, but if we embrace His guidance, all things become possible. Christians would lead powerful lives if they could grasp this incredible truth that in Christ, we find strength for every weakness and courage to face every fear, triumphing over our battles. Psalms 46:10 also says, “Be still, and know that I am God: ……..”

Beloved, have confidence in the Lord’s faithfulness and trust in the God of your salvation. He promises to fight for you and deliver you from all your enemies. Today, look to the God who advocates for His people. He is ready to take over the battles that steal your joy and peace. You may not know what God can do until you acknowledge your own uncertainty in life. God is strongest when the battle is toughest. When surrounded by a multitude of afflictions, trust in God and His Faithful Word, and watch the impossible become possible. Your faith, shown through a perfect blend of calmness and action, is all that’s needed for God to confront the enemy. He is our ever-present help in trouble, and no force can hinder God from granting you victory. As a child of God, He will not leave you to face struggles alone nor allow the enemy to triumph. He is eager to fight for you. Trust Him confidently to intervene on your behalf and bring you victory. Remember, there is no helper like Jesus, and no one abandons you in times of need like satan.

O Lord, help me trust Your timing and power. Fight for what I cannot fight for, and give me the courage to rest in You in Jesus’ Name.
