Courage Rooted In Hope

Psalm 31:24 (KJV)

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

It is clear from the above Scripture that we cannot achieve much in our Christian race without courage. The Scripture boldly encourages us to be strong and courageous, emphasizing that our unwavering hope in the Lord equips us with the strength needed to tackle life’s challenges head-on. It reassures believers that God will fortify their hearts as they place their trust in Him. For those who are waiting on the Lord, we are called to exchange our fears for strengthened hearts, as courage is not only commanded but also assured by God. For this reason, several passages of the Bible admonish the children of God to be strong and courageous. In the Kingdom of God, courage is speaking and acting without fear in the face of distress or concerns over a threat or challenge in God’s kingdom. Only people with the strength of character can display courage when there is trouble. More importantly, the personalities of boldness and courage have spiritual significance because they are necessary for entering God’s presence and dealing with the forces of darkness. Believers should approach each day with confidence because the Lord is with them, and with Him, they find everything they need. When we commit our lives to Him, He promises to be with us wherever we go.

Courage emerges from a steadfast trust in God’s promise to empower our hearts. When fear tries to convince us that we’re alone, our hope in the Lord assures us that He is unwaveringly strengthening us. Thus, courage is the bold choice to stand firm on God’s character, even in the face of overwhelming circumstances. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua possessed the assurance needed to lead the children of Israel into their rightful inheritance, and we can draw strength from these comforting words as we strive to live fulfilling lives and conquer our own challenges. Satan and his demons form a well-organized army, expertly launching devastating attacks designed to instill fear and doubt. The devil’s drive is to convince the children of God that they have failed, constantly highlighting the obstacles in their path. However, as children of God, we must firmly place our trust in the Lord as our unwavering source of strength. God guarantees our success when we seek His guidance, for He is all-powerful and all-knowing. He holds the answers we need to confront and overcome any challenge that lies ahead. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Beloved, stand firm and courageous in your walk with the Lord. Do not allow yourself to be dismayed or shaken by daunting circumstances or life’s unpredictability, for there is no mountain too high that God cannot make a plain. Whatever giant stands before you, be it a problem, challenge, affliction, persecution, trial, or a difficult economic situation, rise with courage and confront it with unwavering faith. The enemy knows he can only hinder you if you allow it, so he will attempt to plant seeds of doubt and fear within you. Do not give in to fear; instead, be bold as a lion. Approach every situation with confidence, fully aware of God’s promises and the strength of His mighty hand guiding you through any trial. Be strong, for our God, Father, and Shepherd is always present with you, even when it feels otherwise. Just as He was with Joshua at the Jordan and with the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3), He promises to be with you always, even to the very end of time. Let go of the past and fix your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. Live boldly and dream big, for you are destined to embrace all the incredible things He has in store for you! Receive the strength and courage to possess your possession now in the Name of Jesus. Remember, failure is not the end; what truly matters is having the courage to persist and keep pushing forward.

O LORD, grant me the spirit of boldness and courage, as You strengthen my heart for every challenge in Jesus’ Name.
