Dangers of Doubt

Mark 11:23(KJV)

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Doubt is allowing our human reason to overshadow our faith in God. It is the most dangerous ingredient in the Christian walk. Doubt is a sin, for anything done outside of faith is sin(Romans 14:23). Doubt never comes from God; it is always in opposition to His Will. It reveals the presence of an internal debate and a lack of conviction. Doubt signifies double-mindedness and partial faith.  Miracles happen only to those who believe, Jesus said if we have faith and doubt not it shall be done. Doubt is very costly and it can destroy one’s destiny on earth. James 1:6-7 says “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” Paul also wrote in 1 Timothy we should pray without anger and doubting. The devil specializes in sowing seeds of doubt in our hearts so that our faith in God will diminish, because he knows that the moment you start doubting God, you will not be able to receive anything from Him. For this reason, it is very important to remind yourself of the good things God has done for you and others in the past.

Doubt has caused the downfall of both believers and unbelievers. It is responsible for many seemingly unanswered prayers and unfulfilled promises among believers. Many have doubted God for being the all-knowing and all-powerful God, the God of all possibilities. Doubts will make us not obtain any good thing from God and will also rob us of partaking in His miraculous works. For instance, the government official in 2 Kings 7:2 doubted the word of God declared by Elisha. Although His eyes saw the fulfilment of God’s Word, he did not live to partake of it. Similarly, the Israelites who doubted God in Numbers 13:26-33 also denied themselves the pleasure of entering the Promised Land, as they all perished in the wilderness. That is what doubt does in the life of a person. It was when Zechariah doubted Angel Gabriel that he became silent and was unable to speak until the day the prophecy was fulfilled(Luke 1:18-20). He doubted God’s ability to overcome natural obstacles or limitations. No matter how logical our reasoning may seem, God has made foolish the wisdom of this world.

Beloved, come to God without doubting to see the manifestations of His goodness. Have faith and be constant, stable, and settled, not easily carried away by every wind of doctrine, temptation, or lust. Never be a victim of doubt for your doubt will not diminish God in any way; it will only rob you of His purpose and provision for your life. Today, come to the throne room of God with faith. Kick the habit of hesitation and make a solid decision to trust in and act on the Word of God. All things are possible to the believer, so go out there always and believe. Don’t fall into the trap of saying you believe in God when your heart is filled with doubts and questions. Stop advertising your doubts for a single day of doubt can bring 365 or more days of heartache. Resolve never to entertain doubts again. Encourage yourself always with the Word of God in order to rekindle your faith. Learn to trust God, because it shows your love for Him! By the mercy of the Most High God, the Lord will override your doubts and make the impossible possible in your life in Jesus’ Name. Your season of laughter starts now.

O LORD, completely destroy every root of doubt in your life, I receive the grace to solidify my faith in Your Word in Jesus’ Name.
