Declare His Doings

Psalm 9:11(KJV)

Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

David, the author of Psalm 9, asserts in the opening verses of this Psalm that the Lord alone is the object of his praise and adoration. In our anchored Scripture, he encourages us to sing to the Lord and declare His works to the people. It is usually difficult for most people to sing and praise God when they go through difficulties or disappointments in life. But not so with David. David always found a reason to trust God rather than doubt and sink into despair. He testified of the goodness of God through songs. David always kept his faith and hope alive by singing songs of praise to the Lord. In Psalm 40:3, David said, “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.” David, the greatest king Israel ever had, composed several new songs for the Lord throughout his lifetime. He never lost any battle, and God’s Presence was mighty in his life because he always sang a new song to the Lord.

Singing and praising God can be very helpful when dealing with unpleasant situations in life. It gives us joy and helps us retain our faith in times of our most significant worries and fears. Singing praises to God helps us remember the marvelous and extraordinary things He has done in our lives, including His judgments and decisions. It is the perfect time to recall God’s wondrous works and to thank Him. Dwelling on who God is and what He has done can fill our hearts with songs of praise. And it is one of the most effective tools that can shift our emotions during the dark seasons of our lives. Making a joyful noise to the Lord can instantly transport us from the pit of complaint and despair to a realm of the highest praise. It prompts God into instant action, changing the spiritual climate around us and manifesting His Presence. Praising God brings His Power down into our situations and gives us the needed victory. The Apostle Paul chose to thank and praise God in very demanding circumstances. God told him to go to Philippi. But shortly after arriving, he was arrested, beaten, and imprisoned. However, he and Silas sang praises to God even amid a painful situation, and God changed their circumstance(Acts 16:1-40). Like David, let us have a good reason to rejoice and sing because God has been good to us. Psalm 104:33 says, “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.” Regardless of our circumstances, we must appreciate that God loves us. And because He does, He thinks and cares about our situations.

Beloved, learn to praise and give thanks to God at all times and in all things. Sing to Him, sing new songs of praise to Him. Don’t lose the wonder of God’s works. Don’t spend your life waiting for the next big thing. Instead, thank God for all that He’s done in your life. He has never ceased to be faithful and kind. The devil would have destroyed you had it not been for the Lord on your side. You are who you are in Christ because of the goodness of God. Before complaining about your situation, the next time, take a critical look at another man’s situation, and you will realize that you have enjoyed the goodness of the Lord. No matter how challenging your situation or circumstance might be, always remember God’s faithfulness and thank Him for your past blessings. Ensure that God, who is Mighty and Merciful, is your ally, and you will always have songs of triumph to sing. As you sing a new song, Heaven shall open the Book of Remembrance concerning you, favor you and destroy the Goliath troubling your destiny in Jesus’ Name. Today, keep your heart pure so that your joy can overflow. Remember, those who come before God with thanksgiving can never live by the mercy of men.

O Lord, thank You for Your wondrous works. I will always declare all Your Goodness and Wondrous works in my life in Jesus’ Name.
