Psalm 37:4 (KJV)
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Delight means great pleasure, happiness, joy, and amusement. Delighting ourselves in the Lord implies that when our desires are transformed to align with His, He will fulfill those righteous desires. Our hearts aligned with His will cause our desires to begin to reflect His will and purposes for us. It is to develop the passion for the knowledge of God and do His Will. Delighting is about being fully available for His Work, boldly proclaiming His faithfulness to all generations, and radiating His Glory by shining light on others. As Christians, we are to trust the Lord, delight in Him, and commit our way to Him. God calls us to completely depend on Him, to trust in His perfect will, and to follow the path He has laid out for us. There is no greater joy in life than knowing that our loving Father walks alongside us every step of the way. When we commit to moving forward only with God’s guidance, we naturally draw His Voice and direction into our lives. It’s clear that truly delighting in God opens the door to His wisdom and guidance. In essence, God reveals His Will to those who genuinely find joy in Him. Job 22:26 says, “For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.”
Christians on earth are called to continually delight in God and seek Him for everything. Learning to delight in God is one of the most powerful lessons for the children of God. When we choose to please Him, life transforms into a beautiful journey, and we start to experience a profound peace that we may have never known. Our loving Father is eager to fulfill the desires of our hearts, but it begins with a heart that delights in Him. We will see our needs abundantly met when we fully embrace this truth. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We are called to seek the Kingdom of God, prioritizing our relationship with Him over merely asking for His blessings. The reality is that the closer we draw to God, the more He draws near to us, intensifying the release of our destinies. Many chase after wealth, status, and fleeting material possessions, but these pursuits never bring true satisfaction. In contrast, finding delight in the Lord is the ultimate treasure that fulfills and enriches our lives. Godliness with contentment is a great gain.
Beloved, delight yourself in the Lord, and not focus on your problem. Focus on God and the fact that He is with you. When you delight in Him, He makes your life delightful, and success is assured. Everything it takes for you and your family to succeed is made available. As you delight in the Lord, He will also delight in you, silencing anyone against your progress. You enjoy all-round security and speedy answers to your prayers. I have never seen any man who has taken to the Lord wholeheartedly and ended defeat in life. You can’t fail because failure is not consistent with you, and you will absolutely succeed in whatever you set your mind to! As you take joy in the Lord, He will provide you with His Grace and the essential support needed for your triumph. No matter the situation you find yourself in, He will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for your good. He always leads you to victory. Look unto Jesus Christ as that is where light and help come from, and not to the situation where only discouragement and pain abide. Remember that He is walking with you, leading and guiding you to a place of peace and victory.
O Lord, give me the grace to delight in You and help me to surrender to Your Will completely and Way in Jesus’ Name.
