Psalm 37:4(KJV)
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Delight means great pleasure, happiness, joy, and amusement. Delighting ourselves in the Lord implies that we have universal confidence in Him. It is to develop the passion for the knowledge of God and do His Will. To delight is to be available for His Work, proclaim His faithfulness to all generations and radiate His Glory by shining light on others. As Christians, we are to trust in the Lord, take delight in Him, and commit our way to Him. God wants us to be totally dependent on Him, trust His will for us, and follow the path He leads us through. It is the greatest pleasure we can experience in life knowing that the Father who adores us is walking hand in hand. When we make up our minds not to take a step without God, we attract His Voice and direction to us. That is, delighting in God attracts His Voice and guidance. In other words, God does not reveal His Will to people who do not delight in Him. Job 22:26 says, “For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.”
Christians on earth are to always delight in God and look up to Him for all things. Delighting in God is one of the best things children of God can ever learn to do. The moment we learn to please God, life will become beautiful because we will begin to experience a kind of peace we never knew existed. Our loving Father wants to give us the desires of our hearts, but it will take a heart that delights in Him. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, we shall have all our needs provided. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We are to seek the Kingdom of God and not just His hand, want Him more than we want what He can do for us. The truth is, the closer we get to God, the more He gets closer to us, thereby putting our destinies under pressure to be released. Many delights in wealth, position, material possessions, and other temporary things of the world, but they are never satisfied. However, delighting in the Lord is a true treasure.
Beloved, delight yourself in the Lord, and not focus on your problem. Focus on God and the fact that He is with you. When you delight in God, He makes your life delightful, and success is assured. Everything it takes for you and your family to succeed is made available. As you delight in the Lord, He will also delight in you, silencing anyone against your progress. You enjoy all-round security and speedy answers to your prayers. I have never seen any man who has taken to the Lord wholeheartedly and ended defeat in life. You can’t fail because failure is not consistent with you. You will succeed in anything you choose to do! As you delight yourself in the Lord, He will supply His Grace and the necessary human help to see to your success. No matter the situation you find yourself in, He will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for your good. He always leads us in victory. Look unto Jesus Christ as that is where light and help come from, and not to the situation, where only discouragement and pain abide. Remember that He is walking with you, leading and guiding you to a place of peace and victory.
O Lord, give me the grace to delight in You and help me to completely surrender to Your Will and Way in Jesus’ Name.
