Depend On God

Psalm 34:5(KJV)

They looked unto Him and were lightened, and their faces were not ashamed.

From our anchored Scripture, those who look up to God or depend on Him are never let down by Him. In other words, they never look down in shame. As Christians, our dependency should be on God. That is, our only sure source of help is the Almighty God, with whom there is no impossibility (Luke 1:37). Looking to God as our source of strength brings deliverance and victory(2 Chronicles 15:29). When we come to the point in our lives, and the only one we can depend on or look to is God, He will choose and use us to shock our generation. Looking to God gives us Divine ability or strength to move further and access His goodness. Abraham and Jacob knew that their substance, success, and defense came from God. They were reliant upon Him, and their lives were never the same. The Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it, and they are very safe. Psalms 20:7-8 says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.”

Independence from God is the foundation for destruction. In other words, the craving to be independent of God is an invitation to disaster. It is like a car trying to be independent of its driver. So, anytime the devil wants to ruin the destiny of anyone, he separates them from God. When the devil wanted to tempt Eve, he disconnected her from Adam. So he can engage Eve in a conversation that ruined the destiny of both of them(Genesis 3:1-19). Many rely on many things, for instance, their experience, connection, or intelligence. Some are dependent on their work, thinking it will bring them success only to fail miserably. Deuteronomy 8:2 says, “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or no.” Our reaction to our trials reveals what is in our hearts. It shows whether we will live by faith, depend upon God, and keep His commands or not. In our dealing with God, what matters is relying on His promises and not the challenges we face. Isaiah 31:1 says, “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!”

Beloved, the strategy of satan has not changed. If he wants to ruin your life, he will make you live independently of God. So, determine never to allow anything to separate you from God. Express your heart of love to God whenever you worship Him and let God know that you are nothing without Him. Come to a point where you have nothing to depend on but God. As a child of God, whatever life gives you, even if it hurts, rather be strong and encourage yourself in the Lord. Act like all is well with you, for joy is coming. Strong walls shake, but they never collapse. Refuse to look at other sources of strength when faced with a challenge. Don’t depend on anyone in this world, for even your shadow leaves you when you are in darkness. Look up to the LORD for instruction, direction, inspiration, and revelation because He knows what to do. Only have faith in God, for He only will never fail you! As long as your trust is in Him, you can never be stranded but have a bright and colorful future. Look up to Him, and you will never be disappointed. He is all you need to have all your needs met. Depend on God, and you will be amazed at what He will do with you. If you have not given your life to Jesus Christ, do so today and repent, and your life will never be the same. Remember, God shows His Glory to the one who has surrendered everything to Him.

O Lord, I surrender everything to You, I ask that You send me help from Your Throne of Grace in Jesus’ Name.
