Disobedience Attracts God’s Wrath

2 Kings 18:11-12(KJV)

And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes: Because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, carried Israel away into exile to Assyria, and settled them in Halah and Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. Now this came about because the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt. The children of Israel did things secretly that were not right against the Lord their God; they did evil things provoking the Lord to anger. They built high places for themselves and burnt incense in high places in all their towns. They worshipped and served idols(they made an Asherah and worshipped all the host of heaven and served Baal), rejected God’s statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers, followed vanity, and disobeyed all the commandments of the Lord their God. And because they did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, the Lord rejected them. The Lord removed Israel from His sight, and they were carried away into exile from their own land to Assyria.

Throughout the Scriptures, it is abundantly clear that disobedience is a deadly enemy of destiny. Disobedience is extremely dangerous and a destiny-killer because it can destroy a lifetime of achievement within seconds. In other words, anytime people agree to disobey God, they have also accepted to abort their glorious future. Israel went into captivity when they rebelled against God. Disobedience is rebellion and distrust of God. It is a sin because it’s a transgression of God’s law. Disobedience is neglecting God’s leadership and going our own way. It is choosing to lean on our own understanding instead of trusting God with all our hearts. To be disobedient is to yield to self-will instead of surrendering to God and desiring His Will. Ephesians 5:6 says, “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things, the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” Disobedience always brings God’s wrath and judgment upon a person’s life, especially if they continue to live in willful disobedience. It is also vital to know that a lifestyle of disobedience dislocated the destiny of Adam and Eve; they disobeyed God, and their futures got aborted. Most Christians today know how to spiritualize their disobedience and think they are dealing with man; some make statements like God understands their disobedience. When we live in disobedience, things we have long conquered will appear again. In 1 Kings 11:11-14, God raised against Solomon, an adversary, because he did not keep God’s covenant and decrees, which He commanded him. So, anytime we disobey God, we open access for the devil and his agents to come against us. Deuteronomy 8:11 says, “Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.”

Beloved, live a lifestyle of obedience, for disobedience will cut short your destiny. Do not agree with anyone to disobey God. Regardless of who you are, where you come from, and whatever you’re thinking, your essence here on earth is to obey and worship God and to live in agreement with Him. So, check your life and look for those things hindering you from becoming the best God wants you to be. If you find them, drop them off immediately before they send you into exile. Don’t give up, compromise your stand or allow yourself to be distracted from the path of obedience. Obey God because He always stays true to the principle of His Word. Today, if you desire to open the door to the miraculous in your life, have faith in God and obey Him completely. Remember, God, will not bestow His blessings upon anyone who persists in willful disobedience to His commandments, except those who decisively repent of sin and totally turn to Christ.

O Lord, forgive me for my disobedience. I receive the grace for total and complete obedience in Jesus’ Name.
