Disobedience is a Deadly Enemy of Destiny

1 Kings 13:21-22,26(TLB)

And he shouted at the prophet from Judah, “The Lord says that because you have been disobedient to his clear command and have come here, and have eaten and drunk water in the place he told you not to, therefore your body shall not be buried in the grave of your fathers.” When he heard what had happened, he exclaimed, “It is the prophet who disobeyed the Lord’s command; the Lord fulfilled his warning by causing the lion to kill him.”

It is important to know that the lifestyle of disobedience is a deadly enemy of destiny. Disobedience is caused by rebellion and distrust of God. To disobey God is to be disconnected from destiny. When the prophet of Judah disobeyed the Lord by going to Bethel to eat and drink with the old lying prophet his life was cut short. He was killed by a lion and his glorious destiny was aborted because of his disobedience to God. Disobedience will keep us from doing what God has called and anointed us to accomplish in life. It will hinder us from experiencing the sense of peace God wants us to enjoy as we find rest for our souls in Him. So, to be disobedient is to yield to self-will instead of surrendering to God and desiring His Will in all things. When we begin to live in disobedience, things that we have long conquered will begin to come up again. In 1 Kings 11:11-14, God raised up against Solomon an adversary. Because he did not keep God’s covenant and decrees, which He commanded him. Anytime we disobey God, we open an access for the devil to come against us. Ephesians 5:6 says “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”

Most Christians today know how to spiritualize their disobedience and think they are dealing with man. Today, disobedience is on the rise in our world. We have Christians refusing to obey God’s commandments. We have men are marrying men, women are marrying women and divorce at all-time high. There is the rise of religions that hate God, occult, witchcraft and all kinds of sin on the increase. We have some pastors who are publicly disobeying God. Many have wives but still sleep with the single women in the church. Some are preaching all manner of doctrines that are against God and His Word(the Bible). Men have reversed the law of God which gave free and easy access to God and His Provisions. What are we doing to ourselves? Deuteronomy 8:11 says “Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.”

Beloved, regardless of who you are, where you come from and whatever you might think, your essence here on earth is to obey and worship God. So, make the choice to obey God always because to be obedient is to be in agreement with God. However, to live in disobedience is to be cursed. NEVER LISTEN TO ANY CONTRARY OR CONFLICTING ADVISE FROM ANYONE IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED A DIRECT INSTRUCTION FROM GOD. WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO IS TO LET A PROPHET OR PASTOR COME TO YOU AND TELL YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO WHAT GOD HAS PERSONALLY INSTRUCTED YOU TO DO. Determine to live in obedience and never respect anyone enough to disobey God. Today, if you hear His Voice, do not harden your heart as you did in rebellion. The sure way back to God’s favor is sincere repentance and humble return like the prodigal son. And He will abundantly pardon and restore you unto Himself again.

O LORD, I ask for the grace for absolute obedience and dependence on You in Jesus’ Name.
