Psalms 108:12-13 (KJV)
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
King David confidently begins this Psalm with a resolute commitment to seek God’s guidance, especially in the early morning hours, underscoring the vital role of divine support in our lives. The reality is apparent that only through God can we secure true and lasting victory in the relentless struggle for our souls. As children of God, we know our help comes exclusively from Him, who never sleeps nor slumbers, making Him our ultimate refuge and source of strength. The help provided by God is unmatched in its superiority, durability, and dependability, far exceeding any support we might receive from others or the harm inflicted by the enemy. Without God’s help, humanity faces inevitable hopelessness and helplessness; He is our ever-present aid in times of trouble, and that truth empowers us. The Scripture emphasizes that human strength and assistance are limited, but God’s power is unfailing. When facing challenges, uncertainties, or battles, whether external or internal, we are to rely on divine strength rather than human solutions. Men may promise to help today, but change their minds tomorrow, but when the help is from God, we can go to sleep because that help is guaranteed. Earthly help is short-lived, but God’s Help is peaceful and long-lasting. David said of God in Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” When God is our Helper, our hearts overflow with joy, knowing that defeat is never in our future.
In life, facing troubles becomes manageable with the unwavering help of God, for with the Lord, we rise to victory. God’s guidance empowers believers to stand strong and secure, even in the face of adversity. We can also prevail just like Joseph, who triumphed over wickedness through divine support. Throughout his journey, Joseph trusted God, continually seeking to know Him and fulfill His Will. Caleb said in Joshua 14:12, “….the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as He said.” With the Lord by our side, we will conquer! Just look at David, who fought countless battles and emerged victorious each time. When the people anxiously awaited the fate of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, God returned them in glory, leaving their accusers in shame. God’s help is undeniable. We must trust in Him because His thoughts toward us are filled with peace, leading us to a glorious future. Many believers miss out on experiencing God’s glory and power simply because they give up and chase after the next church, place, or job at the first sign of trouble. God is always faithful! Just as He empowered Asa to triumph over his enemies, He will likewise protect us from all evil as we trust Him. With God’s help and guidance, we will achieve remarkable feats, for He will vanquish every opposition for good!
Beloved, your help comes from God the Maker of Heaven and Earth. God is always eager to help you, for He loves you so much and doesn’t want you to go through your trials alone. Do not fear, for God is with you. You may be facing challenges and looking to family or friends for support, but remember that relying on the help of man is ultimately in vain; it is merely an arm of flesh. The Bible clearly states, “Cursed is the one who trusts in man.” Instead, place your trust solely in God for help, for He will never abandon you. God is here today, ready to help and deliver you from every trouble. He will raise a voice on your behalf to defend you and silence all opposing forces. You will emerge victorious, for the LORD of hosts is taking charge of your battles. Let God be your Helper by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of your life and surrendering all to Him. When God is your Helper, you can confidently declare that you will never fear the devil or his schemes. Today, trust in the Name of our Lord, and you will rise and stand firm. The Lord will help you and your family in times of trouble in Jesus’ Name. Remember, the Lord will help when you don’t know what to do next and where to turn.
O LORD, give me the grace to look to You daily for help in Jesus’ Name.
