Doing The Will Of God

Matthew 6:9-10(KJV)

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an outline for prayer in what is popularly called The Lord’s Prayer. No wonder in this prayer, He mentioned The Kingdom of God because it was the central Message of all He came to do and teach. Jesus Christ came so that we can once again unite with God in doing His Will and pursuing His Pleasure. When we lift our voices in prayer, asking for the arrival of God’s Kingdom and the fulfillment of His divine Will on earth as it is in Heaven, we are aligning ourselves with His purpose and submitting to His authority. From the Lord’s prayer, one thing is clear: only the Will of God is done in Heaven, where He dwells, and on earth, where we live. Everyone and everything existing in Heaven and on Earth conforms to God’s Will and Plan. 1 John 5:14 says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” So, our prayer should reflect the desire to align ourselves with God’s goals and purposes, not to get Him to follow our plans. Through His Son, God saved us so that we can join His family in Heaven in doing His Will on earth. David had this understanding, so he said in Psalm 143:10, “Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”

God created us to walk in His Blueprint for our lives. So, we must reject anything less than God’s Will for us with all force. Living within the Divine Will means understanding God’s plan for us in every area. The Will of God is always important and higher than any other will, including the Will of man. Some Christians forget God is the One blessing them with so much, and they let His very blessing be a barrier to following His Will. It’s pretty amusing how some individuals seek blessings from God for various aspects of their lives, including children, wealth, green cards, marriages, health, jobs, and more. If we are lovers of ourselves, it will be difficult for us to please God and do His Will. No matter where we are, Jesus has called all His followers to take up our cross and follow Him. God’s Will can look different in our lives, but the call to embrace it is the same for each of us. As believers, we should put God and His Will first. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Beloved, God’s Will for your life is supreme, and it is His Will to serve Him alone. He rules and reigns both in Heaven and on Earth. As long as you continue in His Word, no devil can take away His Will on earth from you. Your Will is at its best when you are in submission and agreement with God’s Will. Live according to God’s Will, and there’ll be no strivings. Today, open your heart to the Will of God, which is His Word. Stand firm in faith and see His Will in your life just as in Heaven! Be prayerful and study the Word of God(Bible) daily. Continue to serve Him faithfully and ask Him for the needed grace to run the race. Obey His commandment and your life will never remain the same. Remember, at the end of time, only those who followed God’s Will diligently on earth will make it to continue doing so in Heaven.

O Lord, teach and grant me the grace to do Your Will, enforce Your Will in my life in Jesus’ Name.
