Isaiah 49:7(KJV)
Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, Israel’s Holy One, to him whom man rejects and despises, to him whom the nations abhor, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see you and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the Lord, Who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, Who has chosen you.
The dictionary defines despise as looking down on with disrespect or aversion. The Lord’s Words from the above Scripture can provide insight and comfort to those despised and trying to understand their life’s purpose. For the despised, the Faithful Lord says kings will see us and arise while princes will prostrate themselves because He has chosen us. He who has chosen His Son Jesus Christ as the Savior of His people has promised, He shall choose us. Job 36:5 says, “Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.” If the Lord doesn’t despise anyone, what gives us the right to look down on others? Proverbs 6:16-17 also makes us understand that the Lord hates and cannot tolerate a proud look. In other words, when we despise or look down on anyone, we indirectly do it to God. He is so in love with us that He says whatever we do to others is what we have done to Him(Matthew 25:40).
In this life, anyone we despise will be greater than us. Joseph, although he was disdained by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned, he became the second in command of Egypt. In today’s world, he will be called the prime minister. The life of Mordecai, who sat outside the king’s palace and whom Haman despised, changed one season. He later sat inside the king’s palace, and Haman, who plotted against him, inherited his own gallows. Many in their daily life are always in the process of despising others for one reason or the other. It is important to note that if Naaman had ignored the advice of the slave girl, then there would have been any cure for his leprosy. The beggar on our streets may be the one to help us when none would be able. The poor people living next door may provide the information to save us from impending trouble. The Church or Pastor, although younger than us, may have the solution to our afflictions. Do not look down on anyone.
Beloved, no matter the height you have attained, don’t despise anyone because you don’t know tomorrow. Nobody knows the end of another person; only God knows. Your secret is with God, so have faith in God, and He will use you as raw material and turn you into a champion and a celebrity in life and ministry. The stone that the builders rejected may become the chief cornerstone. Treat everyone with respect, not with disdain or dislike. The same God of David is still the same. The next time someone looks down on you, don’t be troubled, for you serve a very Faithful God who turns things around and makes them beautiful in their own time. Do not be bitter or angry when you are despised because a time is coming when you will be greater than the ones who disdain you. One day, they will announce you with their mouths! The Bible says blessed are you when men despise and separate you from their company. God is Faithful and has chosen you, kings will see you and arise, and they shall prostrate themselves before you. The God of unmerited favor will come through for you in this season in Jesus’ Name. Your mockers will wish they never uttered those hurtful words. Today seek God with your all and stay faithful to Him, for you will have the last laugh in the Name of Jesus. Champions refuse to pity themselves but stick to their work and value and use the little sling(gifts and talents) in their hands daily. Remember, never look down on anyone because they could be the solution to your challenges.
O Lord, by Your mercy, terminate every desire to despise and grant me the wisdom to overcome when despised in Jesus’ Name.
