1 Chronicles 14:14(KJV)
Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
Enquiring from God is surrendering our will to God and the refusal to follow the many choices that confront us. When David became king, the Philistines launched an attack on Israel. God instructed David to engage them, and he emerged victorious. However, the Philistines regrouped and launched another attack. God guided David to surround the enemy and attack from behind instead of confronting them directly. A supernatural sound of marching in the trees signaled the ambush. Through Divine guidance, God preserved David and was able to defeat the host of the Philistines when he enquired of God. We learn from Scripture that David did as God commanded him, and God went before him and destroyed the enemy, which made David easily neutralize the enemy’s army. David learned a valuable lesson that we should all take note of. It is important not to make assumptions about the Lord. After experiencing the hand of God in our lives, we may become susceptible to this mistake. It is easy to presume that because God acted in a certain way in the past, He will perform the same way in the future.
Life’s experiences become more enjoyable and fulfilling when Divine backing and guidance continually lighten our ways and decisions. From the Scriptures, we understand that Divine guidance is one of the greatest assets in the Kingdom because it is the highway to our greatness. Divine guidance is the secret of the strength of God’s people, and access to it will keep adding color to our destinies. It is because when God guides us, He surrounds us with His Presence, making the impossible possible. In other words, Divine Guidance always guarantees the Presence of God. When we allow God to lead us in our endeavors, the future is secured and great. When God leads, He silences our enemies, and we become unstoppable and closed doors open for us. While one right step can lead to eternal pleasure and treasure, one wrong step in life can lead to a major crash of destiny. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Therefore, it is of utmost importance to seek Divine guidance to be partakers of the benefits to avoid taking the wrong steps. Numbers 9:18 says, “At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents,” The Scripture tells us that they wholeheartedly relied on the guidance of the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, symbolizing God’s Presence. They moved and stopped at the direction of the cloud.
