Proverbs 20:6(ESV)
Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?
It is important to know that faithfulness is one of the most rewarding virtues. Faithfulness is one of the uncommon principles on the face of the earth. A faithful man is true to God and man, true to his work, makes good his promises, fulfils his contracts, abides by the obligations he lays himself under, be it great or less and throughout the whole course of his life. It is written in Matthew 25:21, “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Only the faithful ever become fruitful in the Kingdom because faithfulness is what births fruitfulness. One who is faithful over a few things becomes the lord over many things. God gives the faithful the privilege of handling greater things.
There is an incredible scarcity of faithfulness in these last days, even in the assembly of Christians. Most love themselves and will quickly tell how gifted and faithful they are, but faithful men who can find them. For some odd reasons, the majority of people today believe they are good people, not according to God’s righteousness but to the good of ‘self’. Proverbs 25:14 says “Like clouds and wind without rain is the man who boasts of gifts never given.” Currently, there is a perverse emphasis on appearance over performance, on perception over reality, on sound bites over substance, on feelings over facts. This distortion has created a situation where boasting is accepted over results. Jesus said to them in Luke 16:15 “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.” Self-righteousness is one of the most damning sins of all. Many are promoting themselves more than they promote Jesus Christ. They call themselves founders but the Lord Jesus Christ will humble them in an instant of time and place them where they belong.
Beloved, it pays to be faithful for faithfulness does have rewards. Not only in this life, but surely in the life to come. Your faithfulness towards the things of God will bring you the blessing. Continue to be faithful in all things for God who pays according to your deeds will pour out a blessing to you. Be faithful in your service and devotion to God and man. Stop talking about yourself for you will soon give an account of your life to God, and then the truth will be known. Your words of self-praise and self-justification will be just more marks against you. Let your fruits and persecution prove your personal holiness. Let your changed life and the testimony of others prove how much you fear and love God. Let your promotion talk about your job performance. Forget the talk because talking is cheap. Show your great character to God and men by your actions. Today, examine your life and identify areas of inconsistencies both in your character and in discharging your responsibilities. May the Grace to remain Faithful come on you today in Jesus Mighty Name. Remember, great and faithful men never resort to self-praise; their praise comes from others.
O Lord, give me the grace to be faithful in all things in Jesus’ Name.
