Faithfulness Will Give Meat In Due Season

Matthew 24:45-46(KJV)

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Faithfulness is one key to accessing the blessings of God as His children. It is important to know that faithfulness is one of the most rewarding virtues on earth. That is, a faithful servant will see more blessings and favor with God than an unfaithful servant. It is written in Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” Nothing is more profitable than serving God and our fellow men faithfully. The faithful receive their meat in due season. It guarantees us a fulfilling future and raises us above limitations. Through faithfulness God has committed greater things into the hands of His children(Matthew 25:21). Faithfulness brings promotion and it changes the life and destiny of the faithful. Faithfulness is a lifelong responsibility, there is no holiday or vacation on this task. 1 Corinthians 4:2 says “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

Throughout Scripture many have been fortunate to experience God’s blessings because they were very faithful in all they did. When Naomi lost her husband and sons in the foreign land. Ruth, her daughter-in-law though widowed and childless, had more concern for the loneliness and misery of her mother-in-law than for herself. Wearisome and unexciting as the future appeared, she remains with Naomi to provide her company. In other words, she abandoned all and followed her mother-in-law to Judah. This she did, not knowing her faithfulness would pay off later in her life. Through her faithfulness she got married to Boaz, and together they became the ancestors of king David and Jesus Christ. What a great reward and honor! Mordecai was faithful in his assigned task as one of the security details of King Ahasuerus. His primary duty was to ensure that unauthorized persons did not gain entrance into the king’s palace. It was in the course of this duty that Mordecai discovered that some persons were plotting to overthrow the king. The plot was thwarted, and the conspirators were arrested and punished but he was not rewarded by the king. He continued faithfully in his duties until God remembered him and by divine intervention, the king commanded Haman to announce the promotion of Mordecai in the city. In the end Haman who had plotted to hang Mordecai on the gallows he had erected got hanged himself and his office was also given to Mordecai.

Beloved, remaining faithful wholly in this sinful world may appear difficult and disheartening but it is rewarding. God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love. He will always remember your faithful service and deliver you from every evil work and prepare a table before your enemies. As you remain faithful, He will supply all your needs, you will not lack any good thing. He will not leave nor forsake you and your labor shall not be in vain. Today, decide that you are going to be a faithful and wise servant. Do all you can to serve God’s interests instead of your own. Repent of any unfaithfulness in your life. Now is the time to be faithful! Remain faithful even when the devil, his agent or others including family and friends give you reasons to be unfaithful. Remember, it is only when you are faithful in little that you will be given much.

O LORD, give me the grace to be faithful in all I do in Jesus’ Name.
