Fear Them Not

Joshua 10:8(KJV)

And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

In Joshua 10, the Israelites displayed their loyalty and courage by coming to the aid of the Gibeonites, whom five kings were attacking. Joshua knew that he needed the Lord’s help to defeat these enemies. God assured Joshua of victory by telling him that He had delivered the enemies into his hands and that no one could stand before him. In the battle, Israel conquered the enemies of Gibeon so severely that the five kings took to their heels and hid themselves in a cave. Two extraordinary miracles took place in this war; God fought on the side of His people by releasing bombs from Heaven, which killed most of the enemy and made the sun stand still and the moon remain in its place to allow God’s people to rout the enemy completely. In our faith journey, miracles require God’s promise and our obedience. While having God’s promise is crucial, we must also follow through with obedience once we receive it. And when Joshua obeyed, God destroyed the joint force before the Israelites.

It is clear from the Scriptures that God defends and fights for His children. When the Commander-in-Chief of the Heavenly hosts is fighting for us, we need not be afraid. Deuteronomy 20:4 says, “For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” God still fights for His people. God fights for us because we don’t stand a chance without Him. God is interested in the battles of His children and in fighting battles on behalf of His children. The assurance that God is on the side of the righteous gives us peace. It is commonly said that “one with God is the majority.” He undertakes every battle for His children and always makes them victorious. Those who attempt to fight against God’s people unwittingly battle against God Himself. When the Almighty God is on our side, victory is inevitable, and we have nothing to fear. The Lord Jesus Christ was victorious when He cast out demons, healed sicknesses, and raised the dead, and finally, the most significant victory of all was when He said, “It is finished.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” God wants us to have victory over all the battles of life.

Beloved, do not be afraid in the face of challenges but contend and win with God, for God who is faithful will always give victory to His own. Whatever battle you are currently fighting, be it financial, psychological, emotional, spiritual, academic, or your health, God can give you a resounding victory if only you put your trust in Him. When one trusts a faithful God, they are never left to fight alone. Life’s battles may be daunting, and there may even be losses, but there is no need to fear. God is on your side, fighting for you. Even death cannot separate you from God’s steadfast promises. Through His Son, He has secured your victory once and for all. Just look up to God in prayer like Joshua did, and He will fight for you until total victory is won. Today, trust in the Lord. God is our present help in trouble, and no devil is strong enough to stand in the way of God for your victory. Read His Word often, and build your faith in Him in prayers. Let the words of Jehovah to Joshua encourage you today, “Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands. Not a man of them shall stand before you.” Remember, no one can battle with the Lord and win. No foe can withstand our God!

O Lord, thank You for always giving me and my family victory. I ask that You destroy every satanic agent assigned against my life in Jesus’ Name.
