Exodus 23:2(KJV)
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
Our anchor scripture clearly says that one should not follow the multitude to commit sin. One attitude that has negatively affected our generation is the attitude of doing things because other people are doing them even if the things being done are evil. It is important to know that we live in a generation where multitudes of people are running in the wrong direction, but wisdom demands that we do not follow the multitude to do evil or just be followers of those who do evil. The true believers in Jesus Christ would not abandon God to follow a multitude to do evil. They would not surrender to immoral practices or absorb the doctrines of unrighteousness even if they are the last ones standing on the matter of holiness. Obeying God during trials, temptations and persecution would be a thing of joy for the Christians whose focus is on Heaven.
Many people have been destroyed because they don’t have the mind of their own. They live their lives based on what other people think, say or do. But you must make up your mind to be a person of conviction to survive the last days. The doctrine of the world says the minority may have their say but the majority will have their way. As a children of God, let us not be terrified into surrendering to the world’s beliefs, nor let their militant way of enforcing their agenda move us. Don’t be like Aaron who conceded to the evil idea of making a god of gold for the Israelites because that was the popular opinion of the majority. Dothan, Korah and Abiram rebelled and contended against Moses and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their followers numbering about 250(Numbers 26:1-11). Note, their followers never escaped the punishment of God. When king Saul followed his men to disobey God, he lost it all. Proverbs 14:12 says “there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Beloved, you need to understand that one with God is majority. Always stand for the truth, even in the face of a hostile majority with the full understanding that with God, you are in the majority. Resist the lie which says that because you are outnumbered, you have to join the world to perpetrate evil, especially those identified as being socially acceptable or politically correct. Be a person of conviction and not a person of consensus. Refuse to be a person who does things because it is popular or because everyone is doing it. Refuse to be a victim of societal influence, even though everyone is doing it doesn’t make it right, don’t join them. Today stand for God, stand for the Principles of the Kingdom and be a person of conviction. Remember, do not do evil because everyone else is doing it.
O Lord, help me Lord not to follow the multitude to do evil and give me the grace to always stand out from the crowd in Jesus’ Name.
