2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
We learn from the Scripture that transformation from one level of glory to another is made possible through the ministry of the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit actively facilitates our change, leading us to become more like God. As we nurture the power of the Holy Spirit within us, we experience profound transformation into God’s image. The closer we draw to God, the more we reflect His likeness. The glory bestowed upon believers surpasses and endures longer than that which Moses encountered. Just as a caterpillar enters a cocoon and emerges as a magnificent butterfly, the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives evolves us from our former selves to the individuals Christ calls us to be. This is a journey of growth, change, and renewal that lasts a lifetime. Colossians 3:10 says, “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” Our minds must be renewed to align with and reflect the knowledge of Christ. Likewise, Romans 12:2 encourages us, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” By surrendering to His work within us, we embody Christ more fully in our thoughts, actions, and character. This journey of sanctification continually shapes and molds us to resonate with the image of our Savior.
The purpose of redemption is to transform us into the image and likeness of God. By gazing upon the beauty and majesty of Jesus through His Word, prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers, we are changed from glory to glory. The Spirit actively works in us, drawing us closer to reflecting God’s glory in our daily lives. Our Christian journey is profoundly shaped by what we focus on; we truly become like what we behold. We do not force holiness by merely staring at Jesus; rather, the Spirit takes what we behold and infuses it within us. By gazing upon God with unveiled faces, we enter into a life of freedom, intimacy, and continual renewal. In this transformation, God lovingly weaves together all the pieces of our lives for good. He convicts without crushing, comforts without excusing, and strengthens without flattering. We are continuously changed from one degree of glory to the next, shining with ever-increasing brightness and beauty to resemble our Father. The more we boldly approach God’s Presence, the more we are transformed and reflect His Glory. By embracing the nature of God with unveiled minds, we grow closer to Him. This transformative process requires our willingness to surrender to God’s will, allowing Him to shape us into the individuals He intended us to be. Yielding to the work of the Spirit molds us to resemble Jesus more closely, making us His hands and feet in the world. Being transformed into Christ’s likeness is a lifelong journey of faith and obedience. Each day, we embrace the process of dying to self and letting Christ live in and through us, radiating His love, compassion, humility, and righteousness to those around us as we heed His leading and follow His example.
Beloved, embracing the nature of God and following His commandments are essential keys to living a transformed life. Trust and surrender to the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, and actively engage in the journey of becoming more like Christ, knowing He works within you to fulfill His good purpose. As you behold God’s glory in worship and personal fellowship, you will be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ through faith, obedience, and complete submission to His Will. Let the glory of God radiate in every area of your life. Focus on the glory of the Lord rather than self-effort, and you will witness the Spirit of God making gradual changes in you. Commit to walking in the Spirit consistently to experience the fullness of God’s glory. Dedicate time to God, and you will start to reflect His likeness. Today, allow God to mold you into His image through prayer and the study of His Word. By fellowshipping with Him and renewing your mind to understand your identity in Christ, you will experience transformation. Your life will stand as a testimony to the power of God’s grace and the reality of His Presence. You move from glory to glory and are no longer defeated. You are a new creation, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar person! Know that who you spend time with shapes who you become. Remember, you are the light of the world and the salt of the earth!
O Lord, help me to behold Your glory in Scripture and worship, and by Your Spirit transform me into the image of Christ from one degree of glory to another in Jesus’ Name.
