Give Thanks for He is Good

Psalm 106:1(KJV)

Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Thanksgiving to God is a powerful spiritual action with proven impact and effect. Throughout Scriptures we are admonished to give thanks to God for it is good. It moves God to do more for us. We remind Him of the things we do not have as we thank Him. Giving thanks to God keeps us in the right perspective of our relationship with Him. Thanksgiving is the door that ushers us into God’s blessings. It is written in Psalm 107:22 “And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” We are to offer sacrifices of thanksgiving to God and declare His Works with rejoicing. Doing this moves Him to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

To give thanks to God is to connect His goodness and mercy. For our lives to continuously experience the goodness and mercy of the Lord, we need to be thankful to Him in all circumstances. The Lord has been very good and merciful to us. For these reasons and many more, we need to make thanksgiving our lifestyle. He has never ceased to be faithful and kind. If it had not been for the Lord on our side, the devil would have destroyed us. Our willingness to thank God should not be based on our mood or situation. We are to continuously thank God and show appreciation for the many things we normally take for granted. Thanking God for what He did in the past qualifies us for what He will do again. Psalm 86:12-13 says “I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.”

Beloved, always take stock of God’s blessings and goodness and thank Him with a heart of worship. Give thanks for what He did yesterday and it will compel Him to act today. Develop the habit of thanking and praising Him. Thank God for the gift of life and for the salvation of your soul. Thank Him for the ability to use every part of your body. Today, adore, magnify and reverence the Almighty God. Acknowledge Him as the source of your wealth and greatness. Instead of using your tongue to complain or tear people down, train it to give thanks and praise to God always.  And see all you have achieved as being made possible by His Hand. As you thank the Lord, His Light will shine more upon you and every form of darkness will disappear. I pray that as you praise and thank the Lord for His goodness and mercy over your life, you will receive irreversible blessings from Him in Jesus’ Name. Remember, being thankful will bring increase and never make you live by the mercy of men.

O LORD, thank You for all things, let my thanksgiving be acceptable to you in Jesus’ Name.
