Esther 8:2 (KJV)
And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
Mordecai was faithful in his assigned task as one of the security details of King Ahasuerus. His primary duty was to ensure that unauthorized persons did not gain entrance into the king’s palace. In performing his work, Mordecai discovered that some persons were plotting to overthrow the king. Foiling the plot and arresting and punishing the conspirators, the king did not reward him. Instead of promoting Mordecai, the promotion went to Haman. When king Ahasuerus elevated Haman above all his fellow princes, he thought it was his own making. Little did he know that promotion does not come from the east or west but from the Almighty God alone. So, he began to misuse his highly exalted position to victimize the people of God. Haman did not know that contention with God and His children is a massive folly because He can enthrone and dethrone at will. He does whatever pleases Him. Haman marked Mordecai and the Jews for death, but God remembered Mordecai. Haman’s attempt to kill Mordecai led to Mordecai’s exaltation and Haman’s own destruction. Besides being saved from Haman’s wrath, Mordecai ascended to the highest government position after becoming Haman’s successor. In order to foster respect and obedience among the citizens, the king offered Mordecai the ring taken from Haman. Esther then set him over the estate of Haman, the Jews’ enemy. Serving God faithfully and pleasing Him in our daily lives can result in spectacular reversals of fortunes.
We serve a just God who always chooses the best action in every circumstance. God is not partial; He is a perfect and righteous God who sees our works but does not forget what we have done in our service to Him and our continuous help to others. God is not unrighteous to forget our work and labor of love. He will always remember our faithful service and deliver us from every evil plan. Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” In other words, we shall reap in due season every good or righteous work because our God is the Greatest Giver of rewards. Ephesians 6:8 says, “Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” It is part of God’s Nature to call our deeds into remembrance for adequate compensation. It is not in the character of God to forget anything like we humans do, for He is the All-knowing God. Acts 10:31 says, “And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.” God did not just remember the prayers of Cornelius, but all his acts of charity and his Christian life changed forever. It was through him that the Gospel reached the Gentiles.
Beloved, wherever you find yourself, do something useful for God, and you will receive divine elevation as a gift from Him in return, for He never forgets His people’s labor of love. He knows about your intercession and your passion in prayer for lost souls. He’s aware of all your financial contributions to the spread of the Gospel and your evangelical efforts to win souls for Christ. He’s aware of all your sacrifices for His Kingdom, the time, money, family, friends, and relationships you gave up for Him! He hasn’t forgotten, for He will adequately compensate you. Today, serve Him to the best of your ability, and He will not forget your efforts when you diligently serve Him by serving others. Do not be troubled or disheartened, but be encouraged, and keep up your exceptional work, for God sees your work. Don’t let the delay discourage you. Put patience to work, for the Word of God guarantees your reward. As you unite your life’s purpose with God’s purpose, you will benefit from His Sovereign Care. Don’t get tired or weary of doing good. Stand firm on the Word of God, for the Word will produce in your life.
O Lord, thank You for the total restoration. With an unwavering commitment, I give my all for Your Kingdom advancement in Jesus’ Name.
