Luke 21:15 (KJV)
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
In addressing His disciples regarding the impending challenges they are to encounter, Jesus forewarns them of the impending destruction of the temple, the persecution that His followers will endure, and the eschatological signs that herald the end times. He provides reassurance by emphasizing that when they are summoned before governing authorities and confront opposition, they need not be anxious about formulating a defense; instead, He will impart the necessary wisdom and articulate responses that will render them incontrovertible in the face of their adversaries. It articulates a powerful promise from Jesus to His disciples, affirming they will be equipped with the essential wisdom and grace to steadfastly uphold their faith in the face of opposition and persecution. Jesus unequivocally assures His disciples that He will provide them with the precise words and profound insight needed to effectively defend their faith and resiliently confront any adversaries. This promise reflects God’s divine empowerment, similar to how He assured Moses. In Exodus 4:12, the Bible says, “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.”
As Children of God, God empowers us to stand firm in our faith, even when facing challenging circumstances. We are to trust in God’s provision and unwavering guidance, especially during times of opposition or doubt, because we are never left to navigate these trials alone. In the journey of life, our faith rests in Christ, and fear does not need to be part of the Christian life. We may doubt our ability to speak, but God gives His people the ability. When confronted with an opposing threat that challenges our faith, we stand firm in the knowledge that our relationship with Christ empowers us to fight back with unwavering confidence. We trust that He will carry us through and sustain us against any challenge we encounter. When He calls us to a task, He also provides the strength and wisdom to accomplish it. Jeremiah 1:9 says, “Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.” God equips us with His words and calls us to share His message boldly, even when we feel inadequate or uncertain. Our weaknesses do not disqualify us, but allow God to show His power through us.
Beloved, trust in God’s guidance rather than relying solely on your own preparation or strategies, knowing that you are never alone and that God’s truth will always prevail. You don’t need to have everything figured out—just be willing to follow His leading. Aim to speak with kindness, truth, and encouragement, knowing God can use your words to make a positive impact. Take heart in the midst of your toughest trials, for Jesus assures you of His unwavering presence. He is with you always, even in the most challenging and darkest moments of your life, right up to the very end of the age. Cultivate a posture of peace and preparedness, knowing that God will equip you with the right words when needed. Today, surrender your need for control and trust in God’s Presence and wisdom, especially when you feel pressured to defend your faith or beliefs. Whenever you feel nervous about a conversation, decision, or responsibility, pause and ask God to guide your words and actions. He has promised to be with you forever. Regularly read and meditate on God’s Word to help you internalize His truth, which equips you to speak and act in alignment with His wisdom. When you feel uncertain or lacking, remind yourself that God does not call the qualified—He qualifies the called. Remember, God promises to be with you, giving you the words and wisdom you need, so approach situations with faith and trust in His provision.
O Lord, help me to trust in Your guidance and rely on Your Presence, giving me wisdom and words that cannot be contradicted in Jesus’ Name.
