Deuteronomy 3:22 (KJV)
Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.
The Israelites faced formidable enemies as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. However, God reassured them through Moses not to fear. Moses recounted how the LORD God had granted Israel victory over their enemies, reminding Joshua of the countless times the Lord had been with them and provided for their needs. He intended to share these stories of Israel’s triumphant victories to reassure them that the LORD their God had been their unwavering strength and support throughout all their battles. He spoke of how the LORD had fulfilled the request of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh to settle on the eastern side of the Jordan River. By recounting the past events in which the LORD had guided them, Moses aimed to bolster Israel’s trust in God as they prepared for the future challenges they would encounter upon entering the Promised Land. This recollection helped Joshua find the courage to face the upcoming battle with confidence, strength, and determination. Moses emphasized that, despite the daunting size of the inhabitants living in fortified cities, they should not fear them, for the LORD would fight for them.
Life often presents us with challenges that seem insurmountable. Whether it’s personal struggles, external obstacles, or daunting tasks, we may feel overwhelmed and fearful. There are mountains we must climb and trials, persecution, and temptations we must face. The tempest may rage, and billows may toss high, but wherever they come from, they will be silenced by God. Even though they look tough, God will fight for all who confidently trust Him. We are not alone in our battles, for God, who is all-powerful and ever-present, promises to fight for us. He would manifest His mighty works in our lives to signal our enemies that He will not forsake us. The God we serve is a Mighty Man in battle. He is in the business of preserving the lives of His people. God is interested in the battles of His children and in fighting battles on behalf of His children. No power is powerful enough to stand God’s Authority. It is written in 2 Chronicles 20:15, “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” As God’s children, our battles are not ours but God’s. Christians would live a powerful life if they could believe this amazing truth, but it seems hard in our flesh to believe it. Many have forgotten that God has promised to fight for us. Some end up trembling before their enemies and focusing on their own weaknesses. However, when we discover ourselves surrounded by a whole host of threatening afflictions, problems, or difficult situations, let us trust God and His Faithful Word.
Beloved, whatever giants you face—be it fear, doubt, or opposition—God’s promise remains: He will fight for you. Have confidence in the Lord’s faithfulness and quietly trust in the God of our salvation, for He has promised to fight for you and to deliver you from all your enemies. Look to the God who fights for His people. He will step into that battle that took away your joy and peace. You don’t know what God can do until you acknowledge that you don’t see where to turn and what to do next. God is strongest when the battle is toughest. The Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against your enemies in this season. God is our present help in trouble, and no devil is strong enough to stand in the way of God for your victory. From today, the enemy in your life will submit to you. Whatever battles you have been fighting ends now because the Lord has taken over in Jesus’ Name. Today, hold fast to the Lord and His promises as He fights the battles before you. Step forward in confidence, knowing that God is fighting on your behalf. Remember to trust God, walk in His Ways, and live for His Glory, and He will grant you safe passage over the Red Sea and walk with you through the trials you face.
O Lord, I connect to Your power for victory. Fight my battles for me in Jesus’ Name.
