God Will Remember His Covenant

Exodus 2:24 (KJV)

And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

The above Scripture tells us that God responded to the distress of the Israelites, who were enslaved in Egypt, by recalling His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and delivering them through Moses. The timing of events in Egypt was no surprise to God; it was all part of His preordained plan established centuries earlier. The formal establishment of the covenant with Abraham included God foretelling the period of affliction that his descendants would endure in Egypt with great precision, underscoring the fulfillment of God’s promises. God informed Abraham that his descendants would experience oppression in a foreign land for four hundred (430) years of enslavement, which had ingrained a sense of hopelessness before being liberated and enriched, a prophecy that was unequivocally fulfilled. God’s remembrance of His promise to Abraham demonstrates His unwavering faithfulness and reliability in fulfilling His covenant. He not only hears the cries of His people but also remembers His covenant. Furthermore, God had unequivocally promised their deliverance, ensuring it would come to fruition as prophesied. Psalm 98:3 says, “He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.”

The concept of God “remembering” something in the Bible doesn’t imply forgetfulness on His part. It’s a demonstration of God’s omniscience and knowledge of all things. Unlike human cognition, God’s awareness is unlimited and flawless. He perceives even the concealed aspects of existence as nothing is hidden from His insight. Isaiah 49:15-16 says, “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” In other words, it is easier for a woman to forget her child than for God to not remember or forsake us. God holds us more valuable in His heart than our mothers clench us in their hearts. God is always there for His children no matter the circumstance or situation of life, for His steadfast love endures forever. He is the covenant-keeping God and remains a Faithful Father, Saving Strength, Shield, Provider, and Redeemer to all who call upon Him, who does not abandon the work of His Hands. He is always on time. He is not bound by human timing. He knows the end from the beginning, He does not sleep nor slumber, He can do all things, and forgetfulness is not part of His Nature.

Beloved, the end of all forms of oppression in your life has come; today is your time of Divine remembrance, for God is remembering you now. Do not run faster than your shadow, for in God’s appointed time and season, He remembers, and your song will change. Every challenge, reproach, sorrow, and humiliation you face today, don’t be heartbroken and throw in the towel because God shall remember you. He knows your weaknesses and secret cry that is taking your joy away. When a battle is raging, pour out your soul before the Lord. God has not abandoned you nor forgotten you. He can make sense out of what seems senseless. He will remember you, for He’s the God of restoration, for His Grace and Mercy have their timing. It may appear that God forgot you all these years, but your time of Divine remembrance has come. Hold onto Him, for your situation is not hopeless. The same God who remembered the Israelites, Rachel, and Hannah would surely remember you and remove every reproach in your life in Jesus’ Name. God will remember you and make you overtake those who started much earlier than you. The promises of God will surely come to pass in your life in Jesus’ Name. Today, serve faithfully and celebrate the Great One, GOD who can do what is impossible in your life. Remember, God knows your story from beginning to end, that everything has a purpose, and that your trust in Him is never misplaced.

O Lord, thank You for remembering me. Terminate every form of oppression in my life in Jesus’ Name.
