1 Timothy 4:8(KJV)
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
As we look at the world today and efforts being made in many areas of life, no doubt, many have excelled in science, sports, academics and so on. Exercising our bodies is very essential to a healthy and longer life span. It makes the body fit and primed to do various kinds of physical activities that we are involved in. Exercising not only keep us physically fit, it also helps the brain to function well. We need sound health and a well exercised body to have the physical energy to do the good works ordained by God. This is why we must factor in exercise into our daily routine. Yes it is true that bodily exercise profits a little, however, that little must not be done away with. We must take care of God’s Temple so that it can be available for Him to use when He needs it.
There is an exercise that profits spiritually, physically, psychologically, emotionally and that is Godliness. From our anchor Scripture, the services rendered to God by His children are profitable unto all things. Godliness is the exhibition of not only the character but the totality of all that God stand for. Your total wellness depends on it because it profits unto all things. Godliness is also a sure defense against covetousness and all manners of trials and temptations which is the main source of backsliding and apostasy in the Church of God today. Many are short-sighted in their choices. They think of the pleasures for the now, and forget about the consequences of their actions in the future. As we heed the call not to labor for the meat which perishes, but for that which endures unto eternal life, we need to examine the content of our daily labors. Our secular works are good and profitable to us on earth but must not constitute hindrance towards the work of the Kingdom.
Beloved, let each day of your life count for eternity. Get involved in the Kingdom Assignment that will edify the soul of man in time and eternity. Get out of the mindset of living to earn a living, thereby laying for yourselves treasures on earth. Be sure that your earthly vocations are served to glorify Christ only, and to bless humanity. I will end with 1 Timothy 6:6 and it says “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
O LORD, grant me the grace to live for You alone and be faithful to Kingdom assignment in Jesus’ Name.
