God’s Goodness Flows Through Us

Mark 10:18(KJV)

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God.

We have a tendency to compare ourselves with our neighbors, coworkers, or even a family member, thinking about how nice or how giving we are compared to them. But God is not into comparing the transgression of one sinner with that of another person – for there is none who does good, not even one. Therefore, we cannot identify ourselves as good because, according to our anchored Scripture, the only one good is God. In other words, Jesus was saying that goodness flows not from us or even our sincere attempt to keep the Law, but the source is God Himself. Romans 3:12 says, “They are all gone out of the way they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Apostle Paul reveals the shocking realization that there is not one person who is good, for God’s perfect goodness magnifies our sinfulness. There is none who can lay claim to being righteous and guiltless, blameless and praiseworthy, in the sight of God, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all need Jesus Christ our Savior.

We as humans cannot be good enough on our own, but God, in His tremendous love for us, worked out a way that we could be covered by His righteousness, excellence, and perfectness. His love for us is so great that He shares His goodness with us through His Son, Jesus. Psalms 100:5 says, “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. The price God paid for our salvation reveals His goodness to us. He decided to be good to us because He is good. God made all things, rules all things, and works all things together for our good. God is working it out so that His children can do lots of good things. The Bible says in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light, so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” As believers, we are to show the rest of the world how to live and influence our generation with our good works.

Beloved, feed on the goodness of God because taking it for granted is damning. He is still calling you to show His goodness and give you rest. Today is the day to carry your Cross and follow Him, for He desires that all men will be saved. Determine to spend time with God in prayer, the study of the Word, and worship. Focus on letting God direct and teach you to be a better person. Let God’s goodness flow through you and out of you into others. His love is enough, and His goodness is overwhelming. There is hope for eternal life THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. Thank God for His glorious plan of redemption for your life. Celebrate the wonderful truth of God’s perfect gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ – not of works, lest any man should boast. Keep being faithful. Keep doing the right thing. Keep trusting in God and have faith in the finished works of Christ that guarantees victory. Knowing that you have won, and you only fight to manifest that victory, yet not you but Him through you.

O Lord, You are the only good God, and in You, there is no evil. I rest in Your forgiveness and find peace with You in Jesus’ Name.
