God’s Great Mercies

Isaiah 54:7 (KJV)

For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

Mercy, divine grace, and kindness are steadfast expressions of God’s unwavering commitment to His covenant, promises, and relationship with humanity. It’s a cornerstone of God’s character, a constant reminder of His unwavering love for His people. Even in moments when it may seem like His Presence has momentarily withdrawn, His compassion remains steadfast. His merciful nature assures the return of His people after a period of abandonment. Despite challenges that may make it seem like God has turned away, these moments are fleeting, as God’s compassion transcends any tribulation we may endure. Nehemiah 9:31 says, “Nevertheless for thy great mercies’ sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.” The mercy of God is the one upon which God can be gracious to us. Mercy removes punishment due to the violation of divine principles. For God’s great mercies, we are not consumed or forsaken. By mercy, we enjoy forgiveness, helping us move forward in God. Despite our unworthiness and faithlessness, God remains faithful to His covenant promises and relationship with His people, demonstrating His divine quality of mercy.

The mercy of God is a profound expression of His love for humanity; it is so much that the natural mind cannot make sense of it. God loves us and wants to equip us to overcome this life despite our shortcomings, unworthiness, and unfaithfulness. By His mercies, we receive all His grace, which provides healing, strength, supplies, and all we need. Lamentations 3:22 says, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.” God’s mercy is new every morning, sure and constant, and because of His mercy, we have life. For a successful journey in life, God’s mercy is necessary. God’s mercy makes us stand out in our community, city, nation, family, or class above all others. Psalms103:4 says, “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.” God has kept and is still keeping us; He redeems our souls from destruction. It is of His mercy that our challenges have not overwhelmed us. Satan is not having a field day over our lives because of His mercies. Indeed, nothing stops us from being in a worse situation than we are now but for the mercies of God. That is why we should always give thanks in any condition we encounter.

Beloved, God’s love and compassion are unwavering, even amid challenges and trials. Trust in His promises, for He is always working for your good. Even when it seems like God has momentarily withdrawn, His compassion remains steadfast. He is faithful in restoring and bringing you back into His loving embrace. It is mercy that makes your case and portion different. So, stop complaining about your seeming unfortunate lots and losses and learn to thank God for His preserving mercies. As long as you have life, you still have hope. It does not matter how low you are right now; the mercy of God will lift you higher than your dreams. Look away from yourself and receive what His mercy has accomplished for you in Christ by faith. It is not over until God says it is over, and God will never say it is over until He secures and establishes His interest in your life and destiny. Always apply for the mercy of God at the place of prayer. Approach Him on the platform of His grace and mercy, and watch Him do incredible things in your lives. Open your heart today and receive His mercy. Learn to give and receive mercy regularly, and let it become your way of life. Today is the day of the Lord’s mercy for you and your loved ones in Jesus’ Name. Remember, life without mercy is full of struggle and profitless hard labor.
