Isaiah 40:8(KJV)
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
In a world filled with uncertainties and affliction, the opinions of man and even our own feelings are ever-shifting and as limited as our mortality. Still, we can trust God’s unchanging love and character as revealed through His constant and eternally true Word. God affirms His love through His dependable and unchanging Word, which endures now and forevermore. Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” The never changing nature of God gives us the assurance that all His Promises concerning us are yea and amen. It doesn’t matter how long ago God made a promise to you; just hold on to it. He will bring it to pass. God’s Word is ever sure, He said in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” When God says a thing, His integrity backs it up. Any Word spoken by God to us is ordained for fulfilment because it is prophetic in nature, except we do not believe it.
History tells us that nothing stands forever, but the Bible asserts that the word of God, the Word that became flesh for all mankind, will lasts forever. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Tim. 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” This means that the inspired words did not come merely from human authors but from the Holy Spirit of God who guided what they wrote. The word of God is God communicating with us and the word of God is God revealed to us. In it we see His nature and His character. The Word of God is the will of God. Know it and you will know the will of God. The Word of God will outlast anyone. Matthew 24:35 says “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” The Word of God is life! We are to uphold the Word of God in our lives irrespective of our circumstances. It doesn’t matter what comes at us when you follow the Word we can boldly declare, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors!” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego upheld the word of God even at the point of death, and God did not disappoint them. When hardships arise, we need a sure foundation, the Word of God, on which to stand, otherwise, our emotions could easily lead us astray through faulty thinking.
Beloved, have faith in God’s Word. Accept that whatever He says is true, and then act accordingly. It’s vital for you to regularly meditate on the Word and build your faith strong. As a Christian, you possess something that does last forever. You have been given something that no man can ever take away, confiscate, or steal and it’s the Word of God. Today, I want you to focus on the Word of God Almighty. It is the truth and never changes. What’s more, it enables us in all circumstances, giving us a solid basis for making decisions and choosing which direction to go. Hold on to God’s Word concerning you. It may appear time is running out, but never give room to doubt. It will not tarry, His time is not yours. The Word of God will forever stand and not pass away.
Gracious God, thank You for Your Word, thank You for the month of October, help me to mediate on Your Word daily in Jesus’ Name.
