Great Is God’s Goodness

Psalms 31:19 (KJV)

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

Our anchored Scripture reminds us that God has good things for those who trust Him. It is a message of hope and encouragement for those who seek refuge in Him. We serve a God committed to supplying limitless resources to His covenant people, even in critical times. He is never the One withholding anything from us. Battered by trials and troubles, David turned to the Lord. In Psalm 23, David concluded, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” David chose to believe in God’s Goodness and Mercy because God is always good and merciful to His children. Even though he had been unfaithful, God was always faithful, pouring His goodness and unfailing love on him throughout his life. God’s mercy never failed to be with him. He also wrote in Psalm 27:13, “I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” Although situations swallowed his hope and made him despair even of life, he still remembered who God was, what He had done, and what He could do, and his hope came alive again. He, therefore, declared that despite his current unpleasant situation, he would still experience the goodness of the Lord while living, and it was so.

God’s goodness is His overflowing loving care for us. God is love, and God is good. The goodness of God brings us His blessings and favor, and His mercy inclines His heart to relieve our burdens and pains. Psalm 34:8 says, “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Those who know and trust His character can see evidence of His goodness in all situations. God desires to make us experience His Goodness all year round (peace, prosperity, progress, good health and sound mind, divine protection, and longevity). When we trust Him above everyone and everything else, we are attracted to His Goodness. When we trust in God, we can never waste in life, but to trust Him not is to forfeit His Goodness. Life will be fruitful and fulfilling with God’s Goodness and Mercy at work. As Christians, God’s goodness and mercy are available when we submit to Him and accept Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, we have access to God and all His blessings. Dwelling in the house of the Lord continually and fearing Him gives us access to His goodness.

Beloved, when you go through situations that swallow your hope and make you despair even of life, always remember who God is, what He has done, and what He can do. Despite your current unpleasant situation, you will still experience the goodness of the Lord. The Lord will shepherd you under His watchful eyes and feed you with His goodness. Take courage, believe, and confess that the negative situation you are currently experiencing will not kill you. Never allow the defeatist circumstance to rob you of your tomorrow. No matter what the medical report says, your finances look like, or how bad that relationship may seem, be confident that you will see God’s goodness! He is the all-powerful, Omniscient Creator of the universe, and He holds you in the palm of His hand. Nothing is too hard for Him. As long as the Lord lives, you shall see His Goodness in the land of the living. Dry up your tears, and don’t give the devil your vision because you need clear eyes to see and taste God’s Goodness. Never let the devil take your joy because the joy of the Lord is your strength. To remain connected to the One who daily loads you with benefits, abide in His presence, and give Him the worship He deserves. As you abide in His house forever, His presence, protection, and unfailing love will surround you forever. He will show Himself as the Mighty Provider in your life. Thank Him for all the times He has provided for your needs and protected you from harm.

O Lord, thank You for Your goodness in my life. I am confident that Your goodness and mercy shall follow me for the rest of my life in Jesus’ Name.
