2 Peter 3:18(KJV)
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
From the above Scripture Apostle Peter advises Christians to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Show me a man that is doing great exploits in life and in ministry and I will show you a man that is growing in the grace and knowledge of the Almighty God. The two go together . . . you cannot grow in grace unless you grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Growing in grace is an automatic byproduct of the knowledge of our Lord! By virtue of our past, none of us will be qualified to be amongst the chosen of God, but the grace and mercy of God qualifies us. It was His grace that brought us salvation and not our works. It was the grace of God that blotted out the handwriting of the devil against all the sins we had committed. It is the grace of the Almighty God that makes us vessels of honor. When we grow in grace, it will not be difficult to live in obedience to God’s Word.
The revelation of God’s Grace in Christ has the capacity to build you up in every area of your life. As we grow in grace and the knowledge of God, we are transformed and we become more mature in God. As a result, we are able to access and maximize all of the power, glory and inheritance that God has freely made available to us in Christ. Colossians 2:6-7 says, “as you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving”. You received Jesus by grace(Ephesians 2:-9) and so walk in Him by His Grace, rooted and built up in Him always being thankful. It is by His Grace that you will be established in the faith. We must justify His Grace poured on us by living a holy life and not take His Grace for granted, being a blessing to the Body of Christ with all the talents, abilities, endowments and gifts He has given us. It is the responsibility of every one to grow in the things of the Spirit and the motivation required for this has been given through the revelation of His Grace through the cross.
Beloved, don’t allow yourself to be led astray by the immoral conduct of those who have given themselves to the lust of the flesh. Make the study of the Word of God your daily habit to enable you grow in grace. Always make demands on the grace of God at the place of prayer. Today in prayer, ask God to fill you more and more with the truth about His abundant grace towards you in Christ Jesus. Child of God, you need to continue to grow in grace so that you will not run out of it. Remember that we were not chosen because we were better, we were chosen because of the grace of God.
O LORD, cause me to grow daily in Your Grace and Knowledge in Jesus’ Name.
