Galatians 4:7 (KJV)
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
The Scriptures clearly articulate that believers are no longer enslaved but children of God, a truth rooted in grace. When God looks at us, He perceives not mere servants but beloved sons and daughters. Jesus Christ profoundly transformed our spiritual existence through His sacrificial act, paving the way for our birth into His remarkable family. We now stand as the liberated children of God, defined by His unwavering love and grace and secured through Christ’s atoning sacrifice. This reality is a privilege and a definitive identity that empowers us as heirs in the divine family. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” God is the ultimate Father, incomparable to any earthly figure. He has intentionally chosen us to be His children, a powerful affirmation of our identity and belonging in His family. Our adoption into the Father’s family is a profound act of grace, reflecting His desire to include us as His own. This relationship is not just a privilege but a testament to God’s unwavering love and commitment to us as His cherished children.
Undoubtedly, the responsibilities associated with being a child of God in this present age of spiritual corruption are highly demanding. However, God has made it easier for us to be children than servants. Being called children of God is a privilege that changed our status from darkness to light. We are fellow citizens with the saints and household of God. We are heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ, the Almighty Creator of all things. When the prodigal son returned home, he felt unworthy to be called a son due to his shame. He told his father, “I am no longer worthy to be a son; let me serve instead,” believing that service was the only way to justify his place in the house. Many people do the same thing today. Moreover, like the father in the prodigal son story, God does not see His children as servants but as sons and daughters. God has adopted and clothed you with Jesus Christ. 1 John 3:1-3 says, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
Beloved, being a child of God grants you access to salvation, deliverance, healing, and prosperity that is meant only for children of God. When you truly understand your inheritance, your status and experience change, and you behave as a son or daughter. As a believer, you confidently partake in the divine essence through the grace afforded to you by your faith in Christ. This profound relationship empowers you to rightfully address the Almighty as “Abba, Father,” reflecting your status as a cherished child of our Heavenly Father. If you are not yet a child of God, don’t delay further; today is the day of salvation and adoption. Give your life to Jesus Christ today by saying, “Lord Jesus, come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and Personal Savior. I believe that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me, in Jesus’ Name.” As a son, look to the glorious future with hope and eager anticipation, and your life will never be the same. Remember, God has not given you a spirit to fear, but He has given you the Spirit of Sonship.
O Lord, thank You that I am no longer a slave but a son and inheritor through Christ. Help me to live as a dutiful child, committed to doing only those things that honor You in Jesus’ Name.
