1 Chronicles 14:13-14(KJV)
And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley. Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
From the Scriptures, we understand that Divine guidance is one of the greatest assets in the Kingdom because it is the highway to our greatness. David demonstrated wisdom by seeking direction from the Lord before engaging in the second battle against the Philistines. Through Divine guidance, God preserved David’s life when he enquired of Him and was able to defeat the host of the Philistines. In similar circumstances, it is common for individuals to rely on their past victories and underestimate the importance of seeking divine guidance. It’s worth noting that every battle is unique, even when fighting the same adversary. In this particular conflict, David received specific instructions from God and patiently waited for Him to initiate the attack. The unmistakable sign that God was in action was the sound of marching on the tops of the mulberry trees. Upon receiving the signal that the LORD was active, David and his troops charged forward to claim triumph. David’s obedience led to victory and respect from neighboring nations. By relying on the Lord for strength and strategy, he successfully repelled the Philistine attacks, secured the freedom of God’s people, and eliminated the threat of Philistine domination and oppression.
Life’s experiences become more enjoyable and fulfilling when Divine backing and guidance continually lighten our ways and decisions. Divine guidance is the secret of the strength of God’s people, and access to it will keep adding color to our destinies. When God guides us, He surrounds us with His Presence, making the impossible possible. In other words, Divine Guidance always guarantees the Presence of God. When we allow God to guide us in our endeavors, the future is secure and plentiful. When God leads, He silences our enemies, becomes unstoppable and closed doors open for us. While one right step can lead to eternal pleasure and treasure, one wrong step in life can lead to a significant crash of destiny. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Therefore, it is of utmost importance to seek Divine guidance to be partakers of the benefits to avoid taking the wrong steps. Numbers 9:18 says, “At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents” The Israelites wholeheartedly relied on the guidance of the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, symbolizing God’s Presence. They moved and stopped in the direction of the cloud.
