Instant Obedience

Genesis 17:23(KJV)

And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.

Our anchored Scripture stresses the significant role of instant obedience in our Christian lives. It is precious to God. Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before Me and be perfect. And I will establish My covenant between you and Me, and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, and I will multiply you exceedingly.” The covenant between God and Abraham was not just for Abraham’s lifetime but for his future descendants and all eternity. God’s covenant is eternal and sure, and the enjoyment of the blessings of the covenant is conditional. The terms of this agreement are distinctly defined; you shall circumcise every male among you and every male child that is eight days old. Only by keeping these conditions can man enjoy the blessings of God as guaranteed in the covenant. Abraham faithfully obeys what God commands. He circumcises himself, Ishmael, and all those born in his house or bought with his money, just as God said to him the same day. Even when Abraham didn’t understand, Abraham believed, obeyed, and continued faithfully to trust in the Living God. Without hesitating, he complied. He was indeed a man of instant obedience!

Obedience is compliance with an order, request, law, or submission to another’s authority. Instant obedience is when a task is performed as instructed instantly, with genuine intention. In the spiritual sense, obedience is total submission to God’s written and spoken Word. In our walk with God, complete obedience is the key to success. Prompt obedience is a distinguishing characteristic of those who are outstanding in the things of God. Instant obedience is always the response of faith to divine commands. God’s love for us and our resulting love for Christ compels us to do what He says. God cherishes those who obey His Voice and walk in His Way. God’s Word abounds with unique, specific promises for those who step out in obedience. That is, obedience brings blessings. Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” Notice that the Scripture does not say that just obedience will cause us to eat the good of the land, but it says we must be willing and obedient. In other words, God is not just concerned with our actions, but He is looking at the motives of our hearts. So, God sets aside His blessings for those who are first willing and obedient. God does not just reward willingness; He rewards willingness(intention) backed up with corresponding action (obedience). Isaiah 48:18 says, “O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.”

Beloved, as you obey God and walk on the path of righteousness, you will experience His Blessing. So, make a conscious effort to obey the commandments of the Lord. Your willingness and obedience bring His blessings; it brings victory in every aspect of life and access to the fullness of His Provision. If you want the kind of blessing that is no respecter of seasons, you must be willing to obey God’s Voice, and He will be your God. And when He is your God, all things are possible without any impossibilities. Today, if you desire to open the door to the miraculous in your life, have faith in God and obey Him completely. If God is telling you to lay down something, step out and do it, and He will give you the Holy Spirit to be your guide and strength. He will provide you with everything you need to complete the act of obedience. Go to God in prayer, and ask Him for His direction. Consider your disobedient actions and ask Him for His forgiveness, and He will help you not to repeat them, and it shall be well with you. Start today, fresh and new, walking obediently in the Word of God. As you obey, be willing to receive God’s best plan for your life, marriage, finances, health, and children in Jesus’ Name. Refuse to be robbed of the banquet of blessings that belongs to you since you became a believer. I see God cause you to enjoy undeniable prosperity and all-around pleasure in the Name of Jesus. Remember, no one can disobey God and His commandments without suffering grave consequences.

O LORD, I receive the grace to instantly obey all Your decrees and commandments in Jesus’ Name.
