1 Peter 4:5(KJV)
Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
In this life, everything we do shall surely come to an end one day. After that, we will give an account to God! Accountability is the realization that we are liable, responsible, and answerable for our actions in life to God. Whatever God has put to our care shall be required of us on the Day of Judgement when the book is opened and read before us. We are all responsible for whatever is in our care; the gifts and talents in our lives are not to be neglected but used profitably for the expansion of the Kingdom of God. Although we are vulnerable to sin because we are still in the flesh, we must remember that we will be held accountable for every action of ours. Romans 14:12 says, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” We will not only be required to give an account of our activities here on earth by our organizations, but our Creator will demand the same.
Preparation for the coming of the Lord continues to be an increasingly vital guiding principle for us, for the time of Christ’s return is closer than when we first believed. It is God’s will that after salvation, we put away every worldly pursuit and leave that old life behind us, together with those former desires, as we press towards the goal of our calling. However, many have an excuse. The truth is, they don’t want to make the sacrifices required to follow Him. Even among Christians, we still have justification for not serving God fully or doing what His Word says. There is one truth none of us will be able to avoid; a day will come when everyone will stand before God and give an account of their lives. Many take God for granted even though they are fully aware of the consequences and penalties of sinning. However, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
BELOVED, ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT, YOU STAND ALONE AND NOT WITH A LOVED ONE, FAMILY, OR FRIENDS. Galatians 6:5 says, “For each one should carry his own load.” Everything comes down to whether or not you obeyed God and lived by His Word! Salvation comes from the Grace of God, but you can only receive this Gift that God wants you to have when you obey Him and His Word. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, because salvation is an individual matter, so don’t follow a friend or family member who is angry or dissatisfied and leave a place of worship. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” Today, remove every stumbling block, love the Lord, and keep His commandment (John 14:15). The decision is yours alone! Use your all to advance the cause of God’s kingdom on earth, and you will receive commendation and reward when the Master returns. Live ready and think about the eternal consequences of every action before embarking on them. Your actions and words on earth will not testify against you in Heaven in Jesus’ Name!
O Lord, let me always live my life with a high sense of accountability, and help me to exist in the consciousness of serving You with fear and reverence in Jesus’ Name.
