Kill Your Doubt!

2 Kings 7:19-20
The royal officer had answered the man of God and said, “Now behold, [even] if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could such a thing happen?” And Elisha had answered, “You will see it with your own eyes, but [because of your doubt] you will not eat it.” And so it happened to him; for the people trampled him at the gate, and he died.
The account from the above Scripture conveys the unfortunate story of the royal officer, who tried to make sense of the ability of God by his restricted mind. He doubted the sense in Elisha’s pronouncement on the speedy provision that God was about to bring upon the land of Samaria after a period of great famine. He doubted the man of God and paid dearly for his unbelief. He saw the blessing of abundance as predicted by the man of God but could not partake in it as earlier announced. He was trampled upon by a hungry but jubilant mob. Similarly, the Israelites who doubted God in Numbers 13:26-33 also denied themselves the pleasure of entering the Promised Land, as they all perished in the wilderness. That is what doubt does in the life of a person.
Doubt may appear to be simple but it has a devastating spiritual implication. It is an arrow of the devil devised to steal God’s purpose and provisions for the lives of His children. The devil plants doubt in our minds, hoping it will cause us to oppose God. Doubt is active opposition to faith and it is responsible for many seemingly unanswered prayers and unfulfilled promises among believers. This is because living in doubt makes it very impossible for us to see God’s Word or Promise come to pass in our lives. Limiting God’s ability with our little understanding and limited mind will always lead to destruction. Those who still doubt God’s existence or His ability to do all things only rob themselves of partaking in His miraculous works. That is, anyone who lives in doubt will not receive anything from God.
Beloved, I encourage you therefore not to doubt God. Your doubt will not diminish God in anyway however, it will only rob you of His plan, purpose, provisions and miracles for your life. Do not give up on God! Trust Him and let your faith in Him and His Word be strong for with Him are all things possible(Luke 1:37). He is able to do more exceedingly and abundantly above all that you ask or think(Ephesians 3:20). Today, the best you can do is to completely hand over your life to Him for provision and fulfillment of His Promise, and allow Him to work out the details while you walk with Him in righteousness. Don’t fall into the trap of saying you believe in God when your heart is filled with doubts and questions. Let your confession always be, “Lord, I believe. I may not always understand, but I trust You.” In this season, God by His Mercy will overrule your doubts and give you that expected miracle in Jesus’ Name!(2 Kings 4:8-17).
O Lord, completely destroy every root of doubt in my life in Jesus’ Name.
