Know The Lord

Exodus 33:13(KJV)

Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

As we read over Moses’ prayer today, we understand why God used him to do great exploits. When God wanted to meet Moses outside the camp of Israel, he realized that God was displeased with the people. With humility and passion for God, Moses asked God to continue to reveal His ways to him. Moses desperately sought the presence of God for spiritual safety and direction. If anyone had first-hand experience of watching God work, it was Moses. Moses had seen God do some amazing miracles, yet he wanted to know God more. Moses had an incredibly intimate knowledge of God, he knew more of God than any man, yet he prayed, “Please show me your ways.” One would wonder, “What more does Moses want to know, having known so much?” Yet he cried to know more. He recognizes that to know God, you must know His ways. He wanted the Lord to teach him His ways to know Him. Moses appears to want nothing less than to know God.

The knowledge of God is the greatest of all knowledge and is critical to the fulfillment of life and destiny. The more a man knows of God, the more he desires to know Him. After years of walking with the Lord, Paul still wrote in Philippians 3:10, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” Paul prayed to have a more in-depth revelation of who Jesus Christ is, he was determined to spend time in His Presence just to know Him personally. Spending time with God causes us to become more sensitive to the love He wants to demonstrate to us and others through us. Many know God is Powerful, but they do not know Him personally. By not knowing Him, we alienate ourselves from Him and shortchange ourselves. The Bible says in Daniel 11:32, “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Moses and Paul understood the importance of knowing the true God because knowing Him makes life’s journey bearable. Throughout the Scriptures and history, the best leaders placed themselves as life-long learners. Solid spiritual leaders continuously lead out of the overflow of what God is teaching them. As we pray, there should be a sense of humility in our prayers for guidance only God can give.

Beloved, the most important thing is to walk with God, to live for God, and to have one consuming passion to please Him always. Learn from Moses today, the man considered to be one of the humblest. As you spend time with God, you will know Him and hear His Voice as clearly and intimately as you want to. Make God’s Word a conscious and consistent habit in your life. Run the Christian race with a mindset that is never complacent, always desiring to know more of God. The more you know Him, the stronger you will become. The more you know Him, the better you will be able to face life’s challenges and stand tall during problems. The more of Him you know, you will enjoy more of His Peace in your heart. To know Christ is to know victory, His resurrection, the truth, and life. Come to Him in humility today if you want to know Him, as He invites you to come and learn of Him, and He will give you a personal revelation of who He really is. Let Jesus remain your Master-builder and allow Him to work on you until you see Him in glory. May you find GRACE in the sight of God this day so you might know Him more in Jesus’ Name. Remember, ask God to show you the dimension of Him you have not yet known.

O Lord, give me the passion and the desire to seek and know You more. I am available as an instrument in Your Hands in Jesus’ Name.
