Let The Work Begin

Zechariah 4:10(NLT)

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin……………..

The above Scripture encourages us not to despise the day of small things. In God’s dealings with man, there have been so many stories of small beginnings becoming great. The Almighty God favors the principle of things starting small and then growing progressively. This principle runs through almost everything in creation. Every great work of God usually starts small, beginning sometimes only as a vision in the mind of a faithful servant of God. Every great building started from the foundation and every business empire today started small. It’s better to start small and end great than to start big and never grow from there or even crash. Job 8:7 says, “And though you started with little, you will end with much.” We have to start small and work our way up to accomplish big things. We cannot expect to get from A-Z in a flash anything worth something takes work.

It is vital to know that the message of Jesus Christ in the story of the mustard seed shows that though the size of a mustard seed may be small, it grows to become a massive plant. As children of God, let us be careful not to detest or look down on things that seem insignificant to us. We may have to knock on many doors before we find the right door to success, but there is a door waiting for us that no man can shut. Sometimes we have to take joy in the small tasks on the way, for every work is vital in the kingdom of God and is necessary for our growth. It is the little things that sometimes prepare us for the bigger things. So, in essence, there are no small things. If we have tried and failed, believe that each step is closer to perfection. Isaiah 28:10 says, “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:” Do not get tired of hitting that hard spot with our drops of water for we may be at the edge of our breakthrough. Thomas A Edison failed many times, but that did not stop him. He persisted. Keep striving and press forward until the day we are made perfect in this life. Without vision and purpose, we perish. Philippians 3:12 says, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” We may not see things take place right now, but it will surely come to pass. We may not be exactly where we want to be right now, but we will get there with a bold step of faith. A man does not become a surgeon in a day without training for years about how the body works.

Beloved, start with what is available and be faithful in the little that God has committed into your hands. One step at a time is the surest way to get to the top. Every journey starts with a step! Every year begins with a day and, every relationship is set in motion with a simple hello. A walk with God commences with a single decision. Mostly a step of faith. Life begins with birth. A child crawls before walking. The eagle comes out of that little egg in the nest, the harvest out of the seed. Whatever you have now is enough to start your next miracle. If you despise an apple seed, you will not get an apple tree. Failure to take the first step is also failure to arrive at your destination. So, be assured that you will end up well established, although you started on a shaky note. Your faith may be weak now, but it will become great faith in the end. Never judge your future by the limitation of your present! Do not be discouraged by the negative comments of despisers. Focus on your assignment and look to God for your increase. He will help you overcome those obstacles and limitations, and He will safely take you to your glorious end, for God nurtures little things to greatness through a process. As long as you are sure you are working in God’s will, persist. No matter how small your beginning is, your latter end will increase tremendously in the Name of Jesus. Serve Him faithfully in the small things today because eternity is coming quickly! Remember, do not despise the days of small beginnings, be holy, diligent, prayerful, determined, and focused. And the Lord will crown all your efforts with resounding success.

O LORD, help me today to be successful in the small things You have given me to do in Jesus’ Name.
