Living in Unity

Ephesians 4:3(NLT)
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
There is a reason why the buffalo is hunted by the wolf and it is not for lack of strength on the buffalo’s part. One on one, the buffalo is stronger than the wolf. However, because the buffalo will not unite to fight wolves, they become weaker because the wolves are united. Christians not willing to unite has made us weaker people. Psalm 133:1 says “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” The Church of God called to live in blameless unity. Unity is a characteristic that distinguishes God’s people. We derived this characteristic from the nature of God in us; therefore, God expects His Church to manifest unity, through commitment to one another.
In today’s world, we have unbelievers making decisions for Christians, by taking prayer out of schools, pushing for same sex marriage and many more. Christians are under severe persecution in many countries and we sit down and say that is not part of my denomination. Instead of Christians standing up we are compromising by embracing sin by being politically and socially correct. Genesis 11:6 says: “The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” When you hear of the term ‘The New World Order’, think Babel revisited. The world is becoming one against the Church of God. Hosea 4:6 says “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” John 8:32 says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. There are so many different. Christian churches today but rather than live in unity, harmony and corporation, many are known for their disputes and divisions. Even in the same church you have Christians fighting one another, telling lies against each other just to get ahead. At workplaces, Christians who should be united are gossiping and backbiting against each other. At times you have Christians siding with an unbeliever to fight another Christian. What a shame? Have you ever wondered why there are sometimes 10 different churches on the same street?
Beloved, unity is a beautiful thing and until we as Christians unite as one against the common enemy, the devil, we will always become the weaker ones. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Whenever the devil discovers our broken chain, he exploits it. However, if Christians stay united the devil and his agent can’t easily break us. We as Christians are to preserve the oneness that the Spirit imparts to all are baptized into the Body of Christ, which is identical to the oneness of the Holy Trinity.                                     O Lord, I humbly ask for the Spirit of unity in Jesus’ Name.
